True, Arkansas on a nine game win streak until Kentucky improbably came from a seven-run deficit to win yesterday. Series decided today. Hey, does anyone know the dates of Super Regionals? Probably Saturday, May 28th, but which of Friday/Sunday/Monday are involved?
Some have started on Thursday before if I’m not mistaken. I don’t think it will be known until the bracket is made at least.
If we could sweep Arkansas we still have a chance at hosting so big series. Also, could still have a chance at winning the conference with a sweep. Of course, we would have to win out.
For all the softball team's struggles, we are 34-9 and alone in 3rd place in the SEC standings. Seriously doubt we can pass Arky or Bama to win the conference, but if we win the series against Arkansas and then at LSU, plus win most, if not all, of our remaining non-conference games (USF, Stetson, FSU, 2 against Mercer and 2 against Florida Gulf Coast) and we could still be a Top 8 seed - Regional host for sure.
Pretty sure they stagger the Super Regionals for TV purposes and they do wait until the pairings are known before they announce which ones start on Thursday, which ones start on Friday. Potential sites have already been determined and Florida is one of them. Here's a link: NCAA Announces Predetermined Regional Hosting Sites
Arkansas is going to be tough. They run ruled KY today and KY has a pretty decent team. Taking series from Arky would be huge.
The softball game against USF at home Wednesday at 6 pm could be a real challenge, especially if they use their ace. The Bulls are 35-11 and their senior pitcher Georgina Corrick, who it seems has been there forever, is 27-4 with 15 shutouts and is 3rd in D1 with a 0.48 ERA. She's thrown 204 innings and only given up 81 hits, 20 walks and 9 hit by pitch. She's got 315 K's with an on base average against her of only .116. The Bulls were off last weekend and she last pitched last Wednesday night, shutting out Jacksonville 4-0. They have a weekend conference series with Tulsa, but they are only 14-24-1, so USF might want to try to get a win against Florida for RPI purposes. The Gators better not take this game lightly.
wow -- did they say what it was (break, tear, etc.) We had eight starters +1 Now we have seven starters +2 Time for one of the "plus" players to step up and show something.
Walton said earliest return is 5/10 which is the first day of SEC tournament. This is a terrible hit for the rest of regular season.
USF (35-11) is starting their ace All American against Florida tonight. Georgina Corrick is 27-4 with a 0.48 ERA. In 204 innings, she's only given up 81 hits and 20 walks with 315 K's and 9 HR's. Elizabeth Hightower starting for the Gators. With Hannah Adams out, Sam Roe is at 2nd. Sarah Longley at 1b, Skylar Wallace as SS, Emily Wilkie catching and Reagan Walsh at DP. With #6 Arkansas coming to town for the weekend, this is a big game for the Gators
They are just calling it a hand injury. More troubling ctw said the *earliest* she could come back would be 3 weeks but they don't know the severity of the injury yet. Not exactly the senior day we were all hoping for.
