I'd agree other than they don't care about consequences or morality. They do it because they're evil. They could get nuked tomorrow & they'll just say bring it.

The only way they stop is if they're dead. And there's too many Russians that agree with this (and Americans it seems) where some other evil scum will just take their place.

All it takes for evil to succeed is for good people to sit by and do nothing.

It's a bad paraphrase but it fits.

Then we are certainly fulfilling our end of the bargain.

Cnn live. The Russians provided a route through their territory for the elderly, women & children. They're desperate so with it being the only option some went to take it. As usual not so fast.

"Mariupol evacuation corridor "did not work as planned," Ukrainian deputy prime minister says

From CNN's Nathan Hodge and Julia Presniakova in Lviv

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said an evacuation corridor from the besieged city of Mariupol "did not work as planned" Wednesday, providing few details but promising to resume efforts Thursday.

"Due to the lack of control over their own military on the ground, the occupiers were unable to ensure a proper ceasefire. Also, due to the inherent disorganization and negligence, the occupiers were unable to provide timely transportation of people to the point where dozens of our buses and ambulances were waiting," she said.

The mayor of Mariupol had called on residents of the city to evacuate on along a corridor announced earlier in the day by Vereshchuk, announcing three assembly points."

This was one that looped and "allegedly" would've led to other part of Ukraine - forget the town's name. But you can bet that they would've been "processed" like others have and sent to Russia. Thousands of people forcibly removed to Russia to "free" them.

Two tidbits that I have heard in the last 2 days. May have been previously posted. Haven't monitored this thread in a while. First, Derek Chollet of the State Dept. Said on the Skullduggery podcast that the Russians have not used all of their cyber capabilities by far and that they've been testing vulnerabilities for the last few weeks. He analogized it to someone checking a lot of car doors to see if they're locked. Doesn't know if they will but says that they are seeing those signs.

Also, another former Obama State department official said yesterday that there have been fairly strong rumors with some empirical backup from Belligcat but not confirmed that Putin has thyroid cancer with the terminal diagnosis that may be factoring into his behavior. Take it for what it's worth.

Both of those things seem to confirm — well, track with — previous rumors.

Hadn't heard about the first one...but yeah there had been rumors about his health but it sounds like those rumblings are growing. Makes it more dangerous because he could just say "screw it you're all coming with me" & nuke the world. But if his goal was to leave an empire behind it doesn't make sense to nuke.

Then again nothing of this makes sense.

I think he cares very much about his legacy in Russia. To have such a legacy, there have to be Russians around to remember it. We should keep that in mind every time he acts like he’s willing to use nukes.

Germany is doing their level best to become France.
    Which is ironic.

Yeah exactly. Take it with a grain of salt because we had our own mix up. But considering Germany's been acused of dragging its feet & their chancellor allegedly had ties to Putin/was friendly to Putin, I wouldn't doubt that he put the brakes on some stuff.

I think they're also claiming they're "out of equipment" to send...except they didn't send it apparently. So who knows what's going on over there.

This is not a smart move strategically. Russia is in a far better position to capture civilians. For the moment, they have some motivation to let them leave as refugees. If they can trade them for captured soldiers, then they have a large degree of motivation to catch big bags of civilian prisoners, trade them for Russian soldiers, and hold any Ukrainian soldiers they capture. That’s what I would call a net win if I was a Russian general.
