I think the reporting on Ukraine has been solid aside from Fox news (and other right wing outlets). It's odd to be even remotely on the side of Russia during this time. Just when they could gain momentum - they hitch their wagon to Russia? Can't make this stuff up..

I will say that in a way Tucker is sort of right. It's definitely hard to tell what is really going on over there as far as who's winning/losing and how many troops Russia or Ukraine lost. I feel like both sides have a bit of the "Baghdad Bob" vibe going for them. It remains very clear though to anyone who isn't biased or following their parties or favorite news outlet train of thought. Russia has 100% committed war crimes and have been targetting civilians from day 1. No need to watch any news outlet for that. You can find real videos and reports of civilians within Ukraine that can confirm this.

Honestly, you guys should only be getting cliffnotes from your favorite news outlets. Then develop your true opinion by researching what you read/watch.

Tucker is compromised. Russia has shit on him. The price for doing the right thing is too high for him apparently

So far they have, & that's with pictures, videos, etc. Trump would literally have to come out and denounce Putin, call what's happening war crimes, etc, & I don't see that happening anytime soon. So don't hold much hope because it's Trump. The die hards don't seem to care.

. Conservatives and independents have a very hard choice to make in this upcoming election. Combined with the fraudulent election fraud claims and 110+ members of the House and Senate voting to reject votes from states that elected Biden and Trump’s continues dominance of that party, that is what the GOP offers. And they did theirs when they were in the minority in the House and had no chance of success. People may not like the way things are going now under Biden, but continuing to be a democracy is on the ballot this fall and in 2024. And people should not take that for granted. That wing of the party dominates it and the Trump vision of leadership is expressed in his admiration for Putin and his contempt for NATO. It is critical to note that the right wingers who post here flee these threads. Because they have nothing to say; they won’t publicly admit that they agree with all of this and wish that the scheme had succeeded.

To be charitable(and it pains me) some, I believe, are deeply mortified and embarrassed by trump and his merry band of insurrectionists and anti-democracy activists. This position is most often manifest in comments suggesting we move on, forget trump, and tds.
I’m not forgetting though nor moving on blindly. I will never support any candidate that did not denounce trump or offered apologies for Russia.

You can’t move on from the anti democratic behavior. It has to be repudiated. If you trust that party to not do it again, you are rolling eh dice with Democracy. The leader land king Maker in that Trump. This is who they are.

I cannot and will not attempt to speak for TC, but in a time of record inflation people are being rather flippant about 40 billion in aid. For context 40 billion is about the same as the budget for the entire marine corps and more than annual budget for most states.

The aid is not driving inflation. Not in a direct way.

The war itself is surely causing inflation on any products that come out of the region (particularly energy, wheat, and some mining), so what are we saying? Let Russia subjugate Ukraine quickly so we can save $1.00 or $2.00 on gas or so a box of cereal is 25% less?

The other issue is if you sit back and allow Russia an “easy” win in Ukraine, there is no doubt they would take the rest of the Baltic’s (who might not put up nearly the resistance Ukraine has given). What’s to stop their advance from moving forward then? The price of WW3 might be $40 Trillion instead of $40 Billion. Instead, we will end up paying maybe $100 billion in total, but Russia is going to be depleted for a good long while at the pace this is going. They are expending far more capital, the U.S. has to watch its stockpile of javelin missiles (the one concerning issue), other than that I’m not aware this impacts our military readiness at all.

While the price is certainly getting up there, it seems to be the “least bad” choice. It is also the obvious right thing to do in terms of “defending freedom”. Something America used to stand for. Fighting back against the Ruskies should be an easy 100% bipartisan call. Especially when all we are doing is supporting another country who is doing 100% of the fighting and dying against Russian invasion. It’s obvious there are some traitors among us who will move in to any perceived crack to push the pro-Kremlin message, I refuse to believe TC is simply playing devil’s advocate, not when his takes are so utterly predictable and unusually pro-Russia/pro-authoritarianism vs. pro-America/pro democracy.

My take is the Republicans should lose the older voters over the rights wacky support of Russia. After dumping women voters over abortion, my fingers are crossed for the next election.
