    Right wing Hero:
    • Supports UBI
    • Quit Trumps economic council over pulling out of Paris Accord
    • Supported Andrew Yang for President
    • Said Trump didn’t have the character for President
    Right wingers are weird.

Perhaps it would be better if people heard Elon Musk's intent straight from the horses mouth.

Elon Musk Gives TED Talk Explaining How He'd Change Twitter

Anderson approached the mogul by asking: "So Elon, a few hours ago you made an offer to buy Twitter, why?"

To which Musk, not missing a beat, responded, "How did you know?" referencing the fact that he had tweeted about his offer and illustrating why the social media site would be a good investment.

He went on to further elaborate, saying: "I think it's very important that there will be an inclusive arena for free speech."

"Twitter has become kind of the de facto town square. It's really important that people have the reality and the perception that they're able to speak freely, within the bounds of the law."

The interview with Elon Musk starts at the 11:30 mark. Elon discussed his intent and also discusses Tesla and his personal life. The first 11min 30Sec are devoted to Elon Musk's Tesla factory.

I'm going to try to paraphrase him without going back into the speech but this comment was very good.

"Free speech is when someone who you don't like is allowed to say something you don't like."

Right-wingers generally like Andrew Yang, too, even though they don't like his views on policy.

Right-wingers are far more likely to have friends or favorable views towards people who are openly left-leaning than left-wingers are to have friends or favorable views towards people who are openly right-leaning. Hell, most people who don't resort to ad hominem and are willing to have a civil conversation on policy are generally viewed favorably by the right.

That's sort of a byproduct to viewing everything to the right of Marx as racism/bigotry/homophobia/elitism/complete lack of empathy.

Republicans seem to be improving their African American inclusion.

Bingo. I have lots of lefty friends. Hell, I’m married to one. I avoid talking politics like the plague with friends although my wife and I have occasional discussions. I avoid it with friends not just because it can make social situations less enjoyable but because I find that they can’t have a civil and unemotional discussion about it. Some go from zero to hysterics in the blink of an eye despite the fact that I always remain calm and try to be as factual as possible. When their voices and blood pressure start to rise I nip it in the bud and ask to just agree to disagree. I’ve never allowed politics to ruin a friendship.

Newsflash: Right-winger says right-wingers are better than liberals. But somehow, I've had the opposite experience. I've been unfriended on facebook by right-wing (in person) friends because I commented on their posts. Not because I put my views into their feed (I don't post politics on FB), but because I commented on their political posts that they put into my feed. Right-wingers have ended friendships with me because I disagreed with them.

But I'm not going to sit here and say that only right-wingers do it (as you are saying about left-wingers). I know it goes both ways.

There are exceptions to every rule. As a general rule, right-wingers are more tolerant of the other side than left-wingers are to people on the other side.

I would be interested to see evidence of this, as I don’t get that impression at all. Seems to me both sides are increasingly and fairly equally intolerant of the other.

A couple of personal anecdotes does not make a 'general rule'. And the refusal of so many on the right to accept the obvious outcome of the 2020 election and the continued efforts to illegally overturn the election tells me otherwise. If the right were more tolerant of the left they would accept the election results and move on.

Leftist tolerance is in diversity of people in race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity... but not diversity in opinion.

If you have the wrong opinion for something as simple as "we should secure the border," or "killing fetuses is bad," you're branded a bigot and misogynist, respectively.

Don't believe me? Just observe this forum.

Graham: Liberals preach tolerance - except when it comes to conservatives

"A recent poll by the Survey Center on American Life at the American Enterprise Institute found that Democrats are twice as likely as Republicans to report ending a friendship over a political disagreement (20% versus 10%). Liberals are also “far more likely than conservatives are to say they are no longer friends with someone due to political differences” (28% versus 10%). However, “no group is more likely to end a friendship over political differences than liberal women — 33% responded they stopped a friendship over politics.”"

Ironically, by insisting that right-wingers are more tolerant than left-wingers, you are showing your intolerance of left-wingers. A more tolerant take would be to say that both sides have issues with regards to tolerance of the other.

And as far as this forum proving anything goes, you ever visited Gatorchatter? Were you here before all the right-wingers left to go to Gatorchatter?
