I’m guessing abortions aren’t considered at all. Why would they be? There is no birth certificate to legally denote “day 0” of life, and no death certificate to denote death. We are missing the “span” in the lifespan from a legal or statistical perspective.

There close to 3 million annual total US deaths prior to Covid. Covid deaths have been running at about 500,000 per year. That is a substantial increase in deaths which would have a significant impact on life expectancy.

True but this article references the first half of 2020 where there were only 130K deaths.

Doesn't the fact that we don't count "age" from conception but rather birth kind of kill your idea?

If done properly…those deaths would reduce lifespan.

Sure if we use the baseline of birth. But that is not correct as our lives all began at conception. I just did a quick google search. And was surprised to learn that there are more abortions than miscarriages. That said…I wonder how many miscarriages happen that are not reported in the first weeks of life.

And covid killed more people with comorbidities. So a lot of unhealthy people died. Unhealthy people are typically heavier users of Healthcare. I have wondered this from near the beginning. Could we emerge from covid healthier with smaller Healthcare costs than we went in.

So do you celebrate conception days instead of birthdays in your family?

    Off topic…

Days we choose to celebrate does not change the facts of Life.

But carry on with your circle jerk…

Not at all off-topic. The topic is life expectancy. Where we count that from is very on-topic (which is why you didn't complain when somebody else brought up abortion and backed his point). You just don't like the answer.

BTW, your attempt to insult by using crude sexual terms incorrectly is funny. It's like when children learn a new word but don't really know what it means. Kind of cute. But just for future reference, an individual person can't engage in a circle jerk. Good luck on researching why!

A topic about covid turned into an abortion thread.

Haha, like I said, cute. You have no clue what the words you use mean, but you voraciously stick to them. Very on-brand.

Hammer an aging and already unhealthy population with fear, months on end, then express shock when they drop like flies.

Excess deaths increased in concert with vaccine rollout and remains staggeringly high.

Serious question. What were both year over year? Can't speak to the Covid numbers, but I'll bet the OD deaths have been on a steady rise because people were stuck indoors mostly with less to do during the pandemic. I do know alcohol consumption has gone up significantly since 2020.

Yes, deaths of despair are a large part of the picture. But in 2020 excess deaths were primarily due to the *effects* of panic, whereas vaccines have ravaged the populace since.
