    all the fentanyl poisonings of younger people is helping to skew the numbers too. A lot of these aren't overdoses, these are poisonings.

    Covid continues to kill the elderly. Not the young. This is a result of the pandemic. But is worse because of of how it was handled. Our public health leaders have been abject disasters by in large.

    Yet people want to blame it on vaccine hesitancy for a drug that does not even stop the disease. Propaganda at work.

    Pre-covid, wasn't the decline a very demographic thing?

    Pre-covid there was a 0.1 year decline associated with the opioid crisis.

    Side note. Do we have good data showing LE rates are even accurate? Like do we look at the projected LE from say 1934 and verify it was accurate?

    Isn't using a temporary thing like Covid a bad determination of how long someone might live?

    Pummel an aging and already unhealthy population with stark terror, morning, noon and night; for interminable months ... feign shock when people die en masse.

    It would be interesting to look at the SS actuarial tables now as compared to 2019.

    Really? Not according to the CDC. Yes, those lives matter...moving the needle. No pun intended.

    The new data documents that estimated overdose deaths from opioids increased to 75,673 in the 12-month period ending in April 2021, up from 56,064 the year before. Overdose deaths from synthetic opioids (primarily fentanyl) and psychostimulants such as methamphetamine also increased in the 12-month period ending in April 2021. Cocaine deaths also increased, as did deaths from natural and semi-synthetic opioids (such as prescription pain medication).

    I wonder how it would effect life expectancy numbers if they calculated in abortions?

    They were 130,355 per Worldometer. I struggle with that number being the main driver of losing a year of life expectancy for 335,000,000 people

    Since one's lifespan statistically begins at birth, it would increase life expectancy because you're subtracting negative numbers. Every 1st trimester abortion would effectively add at least 3 months to someone else's life on average. Be careful what you ask for.

    Wasn't it 50,000,000 and counting a few years ago? That is very significant.

    Seems it would decrease it. It seems you'd be adding a neg #. Say 3 people have the following life spans:

    1 10 years
    2 20 years
    3 30 years

    avg = 20 years = (10 + 20 + 30)/3......see you add the numbers

    add an abortion 3 months from birth

    1 10
    2 20
    3 30
    4 -.25 years

    avg = (10 + 20 + 30 + (-.25))/4 < 20 years

    Your way would also bring it down

    avg =(10 + 20 + 30 - (-.25))/4 < 20 years

    I think you failed to consider the denominator
