There is more to the situation than meets the eye. Biden promised to make Saudi Arabia a pariah state after Saudi crown prince bin Salman had the journalist killed. For some reason, bin Salman does not like Biden. Not saying who is right in this case, but it is clear that bin Salman would not cross the street to spit on Biden. Biden had the option of trying to work with the Saudis to improve the prince's behavior, or burning the house down. Biden chose to burn the house down. And this is probably a direct result of that house-burning. Saudi state-funded TV aired a sketch mocking Biden as a forgetful, sleepy old man as US-Saudi relations hit new low
Can't say I blame them. Every country has a price. It's why we tend to overlook the Saudis (kashoggi, yemen, etc.) That oil ain't cheap.
Really it is difficult to tell who is the terrorist state and who is our ally. Iran or Saudi Arabia. Call the Saudis bluff let's go drill in Iran.
I don't think the Saudis have done anything comparable to invading a neighbor with attempts to exterminate them. Compared to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Saudi government's offenses have been fairly minor. Nothing worth burning the bridge for.

I'm guessing you haven't read up much on Yemen. 400k deaths and counting. Unfortunately many parts of the world do not get the level of attention Ukraine is currently receiving. To be clear, thats US arms being used on civilians in Yemen.
and Kashoggi, and Qatar, who he allegedly wanted to invade but had Tillerson talk him out of, Syria, where he pressed Russia to prop up Assad allegedly, Lebanon, where he internally held their PM prisoner until he agreed to resign, Canada who he cut off relations with when they pointed out his human rights abuses, among other things. I will gladly pay more for oil if it means dumping them as a “partner”. As I have said for years, the greatest benefit to developing renewables is having the ability to tell that entire autocratic and wholly dysfunctional oligarchy of oil producers to go fornicate with themselves.
Great points. I also want to throw in, people think that Saudis/Gulf Arabs are very wealthy. If you go visit, you will see the opposite. The vast majority of the people in these countries, especially Saudi Arabia, are dirt poor. The wealth is concentrated so that the average Saudi doesn't even have a voice.
