Identification of those involved “is an extremely high priority now” for the US intelligence community, the official said. Collecting and analyzing streams of intelligence using all available tools and assets has been underway since the atrocities came to light, and the US is at the point of “narrowing down” responsibility the official said. It’s not certain the US would announce its findings publicly and a decision could be made to leave it to Ukraine, the official said. The US is also analyzing possible indicators that more than one Russian unit or group of fighters was in Bucha during the time the atrocities occurred. The US is trying to determine if some of this happened as one Russian unit was withdrawing and another came in, the official added."
They should also just put Ukraine in. They've more than earned it, & Putin isn't going to stop no matter what, so the whole "neutrality" argument is moot. Admit them, then tell Putin he has 48 hrs to withdraw from Ukraine.
This is why I say we just don't know. Is it the few who don't support the special military operations, or is it the few willing to protest. I'm inclined to think a lot feel this way, which helps support those willing to protest. One of the reasons to get out there is to build a larger movement - you'd only do that if you knew there were others on the sidelines with similar viewpoints.
We all can talk big in the safety here, but all we can say is we hope that we would have the guts to oppose Stalin. Some of us would certainly be supporting him.
Agreed. Those folks are risking arrest, imprisonment, and worse. Mad respect. Again, this begs the question: do you risk all that if you feel your cause can't win? I think you're left with a very small subset that would say yes to that question.
this is the point I was trying to make a few weeks ago. Because everyone is so emotionally invested in Ukraine and they are the ones with the microphone, we mostly hear and see the things that benefit them. If those numbers are accurate, Ukraine has lost triple the tanks that Moscow has (and they still have a ton more in reserve that Ukraine doesn’t have), but whose burned tanks do we see all day in tweets and news feeds as signs of Russia being in trouble?
I’m not sure accurate polling would help when the population is basing its opinions on state-provided trash.
It would help us understand how many are actually basing their opinions on such, right? I'm sure "we" have a better idea of the reality on the ground
I dont doubt the Ukranians have lost a lot. Those numbers preinvasion don't account for captured Russian tanks they're now using, nor does it count any of the equipment provided by other countries. I also doubt the accuracy of the Russian pre invasion numbers - are those usable vehicles or what they have? Are those in the Ukranian theater or are those their numbers throughout Russia? This is why sending more equipment is so crucial. I saw where the Czechs are sending tanks, too. They need planes, helicopters, etc.

"For NATO to remain at the vanguard of global security, it must be bold. As President Eisenhower, the alliance’s first supreme commander, said: “History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid,” the Foreign Secretary wrote."
