I really doubt next year's team will have any more than 3 from this year's team. Golden will have to develop basically a whole team through the transport portal. This could be scary.
Reeves Kennedy Jitoboh Lane Gatkek Jones ? Felder Castleton ? Roster Updated 2022-23 Men's Basketball Roster - Florida Gators
Great news via tweet from Florida Basketball Hour (Neil Blackman and our own Eric Fawcett). See tweet below under where it says @FloridaBBHour. Reeves, Lane and Freshman Jalen Reed & Aberdeen is a nice little nucleus to start with. Keeping 2 of the 3 freshman and Reeves & Lane is a great job by Coach Golden (assuming it holds). Jalen Reed especially I'm extremely excited about. 6'10 forward that can stretch the court. His ceiling is through the roof. @FloridaBBHour Nothing in stone yet, but feel very confident the two underclassmen who played so well down stretch for Florida- Niels Lane and Kowacie Reeves, will be Gators for Todd Golden next year. That and Jalen Reed is a nice, athletic young trio to build around.
All of this yack about hugh upside of players and recruits make me think the trap is already set for another season long whine about what's not right with the program. Maybe more folks should take up fishin' and relax.
There really isn't any expectations for this upcoming season imo, but its fun to think about the future. I guess you were referring to me talking about saying that Reed has a huge upside. I'm not an insider but i read what scouts have to say and 6'10 athletic big men that can handle the rock and shoot is a pretty rare thing. Of course recruits are just that and no one can know for sure if they'll be successful or not, but with those dimensions and attributes, the sky is the limit if he can ever put it together. I hear ya that discussing future recruits and players can set fans up for disappointment, but for some it's fun to think about. My wife doesn't get it, but she also understands that it's an escape from the real world and for her it's the Real Housewifes, which I really don't get either. Lol. Live outside of Philly, so fishing isn't much of an option, but it's definitely relaxing when I've done it before. Sometimes fans could learn to relax a little bit, but it's still better imo than talking about bills, politics and work.
Thanks for this but where is the proof that Jalen Reed can stretch the floor. Yeah he has a decent handle for his size and I like his upside albeit not the most athletic, but I'm pretty sure he was 0 for 10 from 3 with oak hill. Does anyone have more up to date stats that shows he can consistently shoot the 3?
It’s not his shooting necessarily, but his handles and passing. He generates so much offense with his ability to create off the bounce on the perimeter and in transition. Super smooth for a big.
Did you take a break from the boards for a while? For some reason seeing you post here surprised me as I don't recollect hearing from you anymore. I've always enjoyed your takes on things fyi. Not a stalker lol.
I lost my comp subscription years ago, probably because I stopped posting. Less penthouse, more outhouse.
What I would like to see is player growth and development to the extent that the team that finishes the year is better than the team that started the year. I would consider that a big win.
