Arky- No dominant starting pitcher No Fabians or McCallisters OOC schedule much weaker We go as Barco goes. If he’s on Thursday night and we win I can see us taking 2/3. Slater or Neely gotta start on Saturday.
Neely is our pitcher that to me has begun to embrace the challenge. If Barco and Sproat can both be solid in their starts Neely has shown the competitiveness that I would hand the ball to him.
Agree 100% liked his presence big time - as you say, the game don't scare him (and if you didn't say that, you should have). Still need to find someone on the backend of that bullpen and unfortunately the guys who looked promising aren't looking so good lately.
If Neely and Sproat can continue to pitch well, the bullpen becomes Purnell, Abner, Slater, and ???? given Fic hasn’t had a good outing in a couple weeks it feels like.
Maybe short work and get the Saturday start if he looks sharp??? I really thought they would start Manning and try to get him going.
IMHO if Manning doesn’t make changes in his mechanics and move away from his habit of flying open early, twisting his upper torso with his back upright and shotgunning his release point pitch to pitch—and start driving down through his pitches leveraging his back and legs for power and control then his command/control will continue as it has been seen to this point. But that’s just me.

FAMU comes into tonight's game at UF with a 12-17 record. They are 6-3 in their conference and are on a 3-game winning streak.
Here's a shocking stat about @gatorsbb. Through 9 games of SEC play, ace Hunter Barco has an ERA of 1.80. The remainder of Florida's pitching staff? A combined 10.24 ERA. An unimaginable figure to see associated with the Florida Gator uniform.
Yes, but at least the WHIP (including hbp) of the other pitchers is trending in the right direction! Last week through 6 games: 2.14 WHIP (non-Barco pitchers in SEC play) This week through 9 games: 2.10 WHIP Another fun one is that the Opp. BA of non-Barco pitchers in SEC play is .323 (up from .309 last week). We have one batter that is hitting better than that, and he has 12 at-bats in SEC play. Also, the IP percentage of non-Barco pitchers has increased from 71.9% to 74.4%, so we're getting to see a greater impact. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Tonight's starting pitchers per Floridagators.com: Pitching Matchup Tuesday | 6 p.m. (SECN+) Florida A&M RHP Dallas Tease (0-3. 10.13 ERA) Florida RHP Nick Pogue (0-1, 7.71 ERA)
UF baseball blasted FAMU 13-3 Tuesday night to improve to 19-10. Nick Pogue pitched a perfect 3 innings, Nick Ficarrotta threw 2 innings, giving up only 1 hit, Tyler Nesbitt & Phillip Abner threw an inning each, giving up no hits and only 1 walk from Abner. Timmy Manning had a bad 8th, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits, plus committing a throwing error. Blake Purnell closed out the 9th only giving up 1 hit. Gator pitchers had 10 K's with only 1 walk. Offensively, they had 17 hits, plus 7 walks, with the Fabian brothers getting a home run each in the same inning, BT Riopelle hit a 3-run HR. Jud Fabian, Wyatt Langford & Josh Rivera had 3 hits each, while Deric Fabian and Mac Guscette had 2 hits. Arkansas comes to town starting Thursday night. Huge series.
UF baseball continues their SEC slide, losing their home opener to Arkansas 8-1. Hunter Barco started great, having a perfect game through 3 innings, only throwing 30 pitches. But in the bottom of the 4th he hit the leadoff batter with 2 strikes, then issued a 1 out walk. The Razorback runners executed a double steal on a swinging 3rd strike, then scored their first run on a bloop infield single that fell between the pitcher and shortstop. They got their 2nd run on the 5th after another hit batter, a sac. bunt, a single to right field and a throwing error on Sterlin Thompson. Their 3rd run came on a solo HR leading off the 6th, ending Barco's night. Tyler Nesbitt, Philip Abner and Blake Purnell scuffled through 3 scoreless innings of relief, but Nick Ficarrotta gave up back to back HR's to lead off the 9th, then gave up 2 more hits plus hit a batter before being relieved by Anthony Ursetti. Nic Fic was charged with all 5 runs that scored in the inning. Meanwhile, the Gator offense got a leadoff single from Colby Halter in the 1st inning, but he was thrown out trying to steal. A walk to Jud Fabian was their only other base runner until the bottom of the 8th, when Kendrick Calilao singled and Josh Rivera walked, but were left stranded. They h=got a meaningless run in the bottom of the 9th on a double from Halter, a balk and a ground out RBI from Sterlin Thompson. The Gators were outhit 12 to 3, dropping to 19-11, 3-7 in SEC play. Friday's game is at 6:30 pm on SEC+, with Brandon Sproat, probably, getting the start for Florida. This is not looking like a Florida baseball team that has much confidence and they need to dig within themselves ASAP before the season gets completely away from them.
I have a really good view of the strike zone from where I sit. Barco was like Florida orange juice: freshly squeezed. He had a lot to yell at the home plate blue walking off the mound after that inning was over.
Just an awful game. Barco outpitched for the 2nd time in 3 weeks. To only go 5 is beyond disappointing. Fic struggled Nesbitt gave us a very good inning and actually kept us in it. Hitting was the worst it’s been all year. All of a sudden we do not know what a bunt is. This team doesn’t start scrapping and clawing and fighting every at bat and this year will be worse than last. Our lack of toughness at the plate is really bothersome. Can’t think of one at bat in which we battled. Shocked Noland out pitched Barco.
