This is why it was a mistake for people to pooh-pooh the Gamble transfer. Competent SEC players have significant value.

Career ending really sucks for the kid. I hope he’s able to get that education. We are in need of warm bodies . Hope Elk and Odom can get back.

Still don't know why he transferred...especially so early. Didn't really give the new staff a chance.

Unless someone shows up in the portal, we will need at least one of the freshmen to play. We did sign 3 TEs…Livingston, Boardingham and Hansen.

I’d think we would need four guys for two positions. Assuming Odom and elk comes back, we need one. Injuries more than likely during season could have two true freshman on the field. That’s what would be happening right now if they were on campus.

That transfer will hurt us more than any of the others. We are extremely thin at TE. Don't understand why Gamble would have wanted to transfer out. He would have been showcased here. He has hurt the team who invested in him.

I’d guess it was personal, maybe relationships with teammates or something like that. Kid probably wanted a change of scenery for some reason. As purely a football move, it made no sense.

Yeah, purely from a football perspective it's hard to figure -- Gamble would have been our second-leading returning receiver, and would have been heavily featured in an offense that's apparently big on two-TE sets. But there's always a lot of attrition during a coaching transition, and while a lot of it makes sense (third or fourth-year guys who didn't get much playing time, very young players who just signed with a specific coaching staff a year or so before, etc.), a lot of it includes players who would be a crucial part of a new staff's team (Diabate would have been an important of this year's defense, for example). There are always personal dynamics and concerns we're not privy to.

Must be something we don't know about, because if it was a coaching relationship, that's all new scenery here. Maybe you're right about some personal relationship.
