My wife (then new) worked at Sears in San Leandro, so I’m familiar with the area… or at least I was, I’m sure it has changed significantly in 50 years.
Haven't been back since my mother died in 2010, but the east bay residential areas hadn't changed much
We weren’t the only Big Program looking to hire him. It was reported that several other SEC teams were looking to nab him.
Strange Todd Golden Stat -- I think its true. Coaching career (HC unless noted) 2012–2014 Columbia (assistant) 2014–2016 Auburn (assistant) 2016–2019 San Francisco (assistant) 2019–2022 San Francisco 2022–present Florida Told Golden has never been part of a staff that has won a NCAA tourney game. Nor as a player -- he lost 2 games I believe as a player. Is this a meaniingful stat? not really sure, just find it odd - that we have head coach who has been coaching college basketball for 10 years in some capacity, and has never been part of a staff that got a ncaa tourney victory. Or for that matter even a single post season victory (excluding conference tourneys) Looks Like Mike White was similar prior to being hired at UF
It's a crapshoot and with the players coming and going at will, courtesy of the NBA lure and the transfer exodus. I don't know how any coach can bring in persistent stability at a high level with no lapse in ethics customary to UF.
You got to give Golden some credit. He is looking everywhere for talent. Places we would not think of like Bryant, Harvard, St. Frances, Pa. and Wofford.
