How does he compare to our former 17th string point guard?

Manny Bates from NC State enters the portal. Injured in first game last year and didn't play any more. 6-11 elite shot blocker. Would LOVE to have him

Yeah, I just looked. 37% 3-pointers, 87% free throws. We could use a shooter like him.

Comparable, not really better. 37% and 77%. My guess is, in a system not designed to create open shots, his shooting suffered once he arrived at Florida. Or maybe the sun just got in his eyes. It's Florida.

You are a finalist for the most annoying poster on the basketball boards. My question to you is why?

It’s hard to say what we “need” pending on who comes back and how few scholarship players we’ll have returning. But regardless of who comes back we could certainly use a legit/fast PG that takes care of the ball (and hopefully can upgrade our shooting). Of course PF/C is probably a huge need as well for a “starting quality” player unless Castleton comes back, but either way we could use a physical rebounder. It’s not a great position to need 3 or 4 starters through the portal, but it seems to me that’s pretty much what we need. Kawacie at the 3 is possibly the only locked in starter, and that’s assuming he doesn’t pull a shocker and bail out.
