Gator Baseball 2022 Roster/Lineup/Batting Order

I guess pitching going forward for Sully is going to be crap shoot until somebody shows us something. After tonight Sully must be done with Manning as a starter and hopefully Sproat as well. I'm not sure how committed he is to Sproat's chances going forward. Certainly obvious Slater gets the start tomorrow but who knows what next week holds. I don't know could we see Nick Fic or Purnell get a start here soon. What about Milchin, that's scary. It seems to me Nesbitt isn't ready for more than 3 innings. Still no word on Coppola. I went back to the OP and updated the pitchers. Now only Hunter Barco is listed as a starter. Everyone else is either a reliever or TBD.

 

My comments from this weekend....
I got nothing. I'll let the stats speak for themselves even though I'm sure they won't be very nice to look at.

As Sully said 3 inning starts aren't going to work. Starters have to throw strikes going forward. That makes we wonder how far Sully will be willing to go to give some other guys a look.

What I saw from Coppola today tells me he's is done for the year. Sitting by the players tunnel, it was clear he can barely stand straight for the national anthem, much less keep his arm behind his back at attention. Most games he has an awkward stance while the music plays. A few innings later I saw him limping along as he walked thru the tunnel. Even if he comes back it's going to be so late he won't be of much help during the season.

I was thinking Milchin for Tuesday but if Sully has any chance to find another weekend starter, I wouldn't be surprised if Pogue starts again to see if he has improved.

It's very telling when your first two batter's aren't even batting .170 in SEC games. Everyone else is about right but the difference is how good the numbers looked after the first weekend to how badly we batted the last two days. Jud only got 2 hits over these six games, both of them homeruns. The scrubs only had 5 ABs so don't let the .000s persuade you. I just left them on the list because it factors into the totals. So the positive is, props to Rivera and Langford for leading the pack.

I left the link if you want to look up all the other stats like HBP, Walks, Runs, etc. Just know many of these guys only have credit for pitching an inning or two before they came out. For instance, NesbitT, first name Tyler, went 2.2 innings but has yet to give up a hit and got 3 strikeouts with 2 walks. But don't forget Purnell appeared in all three games at Alabama and gave up his first two runs. So in 3 innings his SEC ERA is skewed, otherwise he has a 0.87 ERA overall. I suppose Shane is feeling this proves Nesbitt's ability. Maybe so, but Sully's comments that 3 inning starts aren't going to cut it leaves me wondering would Sully start Nesbitt in a conference game if he's not ready to go more than three innings. But then again, who else is he going to start in a conference game, Sproat with a 15.19 ERA???

 

Question for @EthanHughes ....
With everyone speculating the morale issues and leadership problems or lack thereof, what are you seeing at practices or press conferences that would concern you or change the perception of those here on the boards?

 

In our 6 SEC games two glaring differences in the stat lines. Number one obviously is the total HBP. The Gator batters have been HBP 4 times in 6 games. The Gator pitchers have hit 17 opposing batters in the same 6 games. The other stat is stolen bases. Gator baserunners have stolen 7 out of 8 bases in conference play but we have only given up 1 stolen baes in 1 attempt. Most of the other stats are relatively close. If you must know the Gators have given up 47 runs in the 6 games and we have scored 39 runs. And if it makes anyone in particular happy the Gators have 1 triple and have not allowed any triples so far in SEC play, thanks to Sterlin.
