Looks like Appleby may be gone. I loved his grit, but would he work in a more structured offense for CTG?
I’m probably in the minority, but I hope he returns. Less minutes & a offense that stresses motion vs standing in a corner would make a difference in how he performs.
Appleby was so inconsistent and out of control at times. I think he had to much put on his shoulders and would benefit from a more structured offense. Would like to see him stay!
Could be. So many times he would be playing well, then have one (or more) of those "WTF were you thinking" moments.
I’ll have to check with my source, but after the Golden meeting Appleby was planning on staying. Minds can be changed though, so who knows?
Right, you just don’t want him carrying the full load at PG. He’s not a horrible ball handler, but definitely tried to do too much and White’s system demanded too much. I think he could be more solid in a better offense, perhaps more as a combo guard where he gets more off the ball opportunities. If he wanted to come back for the bonus year that would be fantastic. I believe the only guards eligible to come back are Appleby, Kennedy, Jones? While I’d like to see Golden improve the roster with immediate transfers, the reality is if you go 0-3 that is a tall ask from the transfer market. Appleby would probably be the best of the 3 to get to stick.
Supposedly he has grade concerns. I think his offer list would be much much better without those concerns. But with McCray now on staff, and no downside from Golden’s standpoint in trying to cobble together a roster, you offer him and hope he commits. You figure out how to get him into school afterwards. This kid is a big time scorer.
