Kansas - Big Dollar Bill and his Kansas Jayhawks? YUCK Duke - Rat face??? Double YUCK NC Tarheels - Triple YUCK NOVA - I'm cheering for NOVA, no doubt, but they lose arguably their best player in the last minute? Ouch that hurt!! Not looking good. Almost like having BAMA, UGA, FSU and The Canes in the football playoffs......UGH!
The media was certainly cheering for the "Blue-Blood" Final Four. The only thing missing was also including Kentucky and/or UCLA! 2 Duke vs 8 North Carolina 1 Kansas vs 2 Villanova Duke goes into Final Four as national title favorite Duke seems to be the favorite in wining it all which would be a story book ending to Coach K's career unless the upstart Jay Wright 's team has anything to say about it. And of course there is "Dollar Bill"'s team (lol) and who can forget first timer, Hubert Davis of UNC!
That’s just for all you that pay attention. Until the Gators get back into things and/or, something is done about the cheaters buying the best players, I don’t even pay attention.
Understood. But do you really truly think that the blue bloods supporters are going to let their teams be outbid by competitors??
I don’t see our fanbase outbidding them, but they’re able to if they want to. Paying them isn’t cheating anymore though, that was the point of my post. Simply outbidding us no longer makes them cheaters.
Unfortunately, some programs are still better at it than the majority of them! It will be interesting to see how Florida can manage in this "new" environment.
Some teams definitely want it more and have booster networks willing to do whatever it takes. We’re going to get to see how much our top dogs want to win. They haven’t had much issue opening up their checkbooks to hire/fire coaches, build facilities, etc. A ton of money is raised for the education side too. We have a wealthy alumni/fanbase. Just handing out wads of money to high school kids is different than funding something like a building you get to put your name on, or even pushing out a coach. It’s new territory for sure. We’ll see what happens. At the end of the day, it’s their money and they can invest it how they see fit. I certainly can’t blame them for not wanting to give some unproven kid an 8 million dollar deal just for the high probability that he ends up riding the bench or playing for another school in a year or two. We sign a ton of kids across the athletic department. Most of them are less productive than we thought they’d be when they signed. Most of them won’t make the nba or nfl or whatever pro league their sport offers. Those leagues spend tons of money on talent evaluation and still lose out a pretty good percentage of the time. Some guy just throwing money at random kids is going to miss at a way higher rate than the pros do. i know some folks say well these guys are billionaires and a few million here and there means nothing to them, but I just don’t see that as a sustainable model. We’ve already seen kids with million dollar deals flame out or transfer. They’re just gonna keep bleeding money for kids like this?
Every program cheats. Some are just better. Drop the holier than thou act and enjoy this great event.
Point taken. Understand that I dwell here in TTown and have had to endure YEARS of watching the Red Elephants and others ‘do what they will’ to get who they want!!
I am looking forward to Duke vs UNC. I'm always psyched for the final 4, and the extra drama is welcome.
I’m curious, can you name the cheating that Donovan’s regime did? Mike Whites? An accusation like that is pretty serious.
