All white people. All protected by Hollywood. And saying “oh, well they should have been accountable too” is hardly supportive of your white victimization narrative that started this. And Adrian Brody! Holy hell. What degenerate behavior he engaged in! So spare me your “if it were a white guy it would have been worse” faux victimization and peddle it somewhere with people who are predisposed to accept it…like your mirror.
And Rock should press charges because now it has become open season on comedians for any perceived offensive.
I’m making the observation that you think a man who is slapped after insulting another man’s wife should call the police and press charges. And apparently he can take a slap that you can’t. Don’t say it if you don’t mean it.
No I'm saying he should press charges because now comedians will be attacked because nothing was done on live TV, this will trickle down into the comedy clubs.
People will fall into one of 3 camps. 1. Will Smith was right for slapping him, protect his wife's honor and all. 2. Will Smith is just perpetuating the "black man can't control his anger" stereotype as we try to teach our young children that you are to never lay your hands on anyone. 3. Who cares since the oscars are just a bunch of overpaid prima donnas patting themselves on the back. I do know that if Chris Rock doesn't sue or press charges, Smith will look like a bigger a-hole than he does already. Technically a slam dunk case for assault prosecution / civil suit.
Racial debate aside, think it's more complex than simply taking the high road for rock. Maybe he is but he will also lose more than he gains if he were to press charges. No way he does himself any good by pursuing charges. He saves a lot of face for a bad joke and then handling what followed so well. I do agree it sets a bad precedent to allow this with no repercussions
No repercussions is pretty typical when you gross enough profits by getting butts in seats in that industry, as the long list I noted before shows for far worse offenses. I’m not saying I agree with it or that I think anyone involved in this was right, but let’s not pretend Hollywood’s navel gazing sensibilities are shaken to their core either.
Or you could say it was much ado about nothing, a tale told by an idiot, signifying nothing, for King Richard (not the II)
I don’t think that’s a fair question. An open marriage may not be for you or me, and we don’t have to understand it, but that kind of freedom (for lack of a better word) is one of the ways they express their love for each other. It clearly works for them in a way that it wouldn’t for most.
Does Rock have to press charges for Smith to be charged? Seems like there's plenty of evidence to prove assault. A few million witnesses and video from multiple angles.
