With the new coach, and ostensibly a new coaching staff, recruiting will be at a premium. The portal is a big part of the present and the future of college hoops. For Florida I feel like there's got to be balance between incoming freshmen and portal guys. What's your wish list for transfer portal guys for next season? Me: a frickin dyed in the wool point guard and a skilled banger.
We need a true point guard and a big man from the portal. Special emphasis on the point guard. You rarely can find a true freshman capable of handling the starting point guard job in a Power Conference.
2022 College Basketball Transfer Portal Khristian Lander - 2nd time going to the portal... We did recruit him 2 years ago. Khristian Lander, Francis Joseph Reitz Sch, Point Guard
UM got Charlie Moore from DePaul to play the point and what a pick up...if only Mike White had made the same move. Let's hope TG makes wise portal moves.
In the press conference, Coach said he wants defensive rebounding and taking care of the ball at a very high level. Two things we've not been at lately. And he's right. Do those things well and you'll be competitive in every game.
Another PG just became available. Xavier Pinson from LSU. Second time transferring as well (Missouri). Xavier Pinson, Simeon, Point Guard
They should all have one year of eligibility so Golden can recruit an entire new team from the ground up next year. It will be easier to get big name players when there are a lot of slots at a big program than just 3 or 4 slots. have to pull for Iowa State today because in the past 7 years, schools like Miami, FSU, UCF and FGCU, have been beating us in state talent wise. It is hard to imagine, but HS students saw something in MW that they did not like - Tre Mann being the exception. Thank God we were probably his life long dream school or he would have bolted for another program also I am sure.
We 100% do not want. Kid is mid-major level. He cannot play defense and turns the ball over more than not. I get that he was highly ranked in HS, but he played in a conference that's not overly good. Indiana desperately needed guard play this year and he barely played, because of the before mentioned issues. Indiana kid through and through that couldn't cut it at the state university. He will thrive somewhere like University of Evansville or in the MAC somewhere. Not big time D1. Hard pass. There’s another IU point guard that I would absolutely take and that’s Robert Phinisee, Indiana, Point Guard dealt with a lot of injuries this year but kid is a player.
I watch a good bit of IU. He might be an interesting take from a developmental standpoint but he's not a starting PG right now. As a poster above me mentions he has turnover and defensive lapse issues. He barely played and IU wasn't exactly flush with guards.
Idk Phin's offensive game is lacking. Outside of the first Purdue game he really didn't do much even when he was healthy. Good defender though.
