How about Arkansas' Notae? 9/29 (2/12 from 3pt range) - 21 pts, 6A, 6 reb, 5 TO's. Talk about a ball-hog! 29 shot attempts! I guess some of them are bound to go in when you take that many shots, lol! Agreed that Nembhard had a rough outing, 5 TO's also.
For Arkansas to win, Notae had to be the best guard on the floor. He wasn't efficient, but apparently did enough damage to unseat the Zags.
Perhaps Arkansas fouls so much that the refs don't bother to call some of them; especially, some of the hand checking by the Arkansas defenders. Gonzaga is a west-coast offensive oriented team and probably has a rough time playing against a quicker, more athletic basketball team. I believe Alabama was also able to defeat Gonzaga. Arkansas moves on to the Elite8!
He had bad games against Alabama and Duke in the regular season too. Though apparently had a monster game vs. UCLA. Maybe Nembhard just struggles against quicker guards with tough D? There’s no question he is a very cerebral PG, but his lack of athleticism can be exposed. Thing is it probably wouldn’t get exposed all that often in the WCC. Gonzaga across the board seemed much slower than Ark.
Out of the teams left, I like ark best. I do pull for all SEC teams in all sports but Georgia in Football. I like to see all SEC teams get better What's the fun beating bad teams just because they are good we can still be better. Like to see 10 teams from SEC in top 20. Just me but it's fun beating rank teams.
