Damn, after all the success he’s had as a met for pennies, a one year deal is the best they could do for him? I mean 7mil is a lot of money I guess, but he’s been a lot more productive than a lot of players making way more, and they haven’t paid him shit for the last two years.

If Steinbrenner was still around he wouldn't have to move after the next season.

This is interesting actually. He was a Mets fan growing up. Dad is from Queens or something. I thought he was born there and moved to Tampa later but apparently not.

I think the Mets will pay him big time next year. They aren’t this year because they don’t have to.

NOTE: I just read an article from 2018 where he is quoted as not having a favorite team growing up. So never mind on the Mets fan thing. I swear there is a tie somehow but I can’t seem to find whichever article it was which made me think he grew up a Mets fan. He also isn’t eligible for Free Agency until 2025 per baseball-reference.com. He is eligible for arbitration again next year…

Richie Martin 8/15 in spring, w/ 5 extra base hits. Making a case for Os big boy roster.. Ramon Urias, projected SS starter having good spring also though.

I want to go back to the baseball card aspect.

My grandmother worked/owned a bar on the near Southside of Chicago that was one where lots of professional teams drank.

The story about the Babe Ruth picture is probably true. I don't have it and I wish that I did. My mon thought that I had it. I wish that I did. I am sure that Babe got a free drink for signing a picture..

She also told me about a chest full of woolen Black Hawks jerseys from the 1930's. At the end of the season they were traded for drinks. I would love to know where they went.

A Tad of the article in the Tampa Bay Times
Zunino, 31, immediately started making a good impression on the Rays when he joined them after a November 2018 trade from Seattle, which in 2012 drafted him No. 3 overall out of Florida.

“That first spring, he was like, ‘I just want to see as many guys as I can. Hitting is important, but I want to absorb as much information on the pitching side as possible,’ ‘’ said Yarbrough, who had been previously acquired from Seattle. “I thought that was really cool. Especially for a guy to come over and just put us first, it was incredible. And I feel like it’s been that way ever since.’’

Wouldn’t that be standard operating procedure for a catcher joining a new team?

“You’d be surprised,’’ said Rays manager Kevin Cash, a former catcher himself. ‘‘More veteran catchers take the nod of ‘I’ve been here, done this. I don’t need to sit there and talk, just follow my lead.’ ‘’
