There obviously isn’t much of anything to evaluate in the first days of his tenure. But I have been very encouraged by how he has worked to engage the fan base. He has published a couple video clips to “gator nation” and made himself available via zoom during the NIT game. I know Stricklin really liked this attribute… his personality and community interaction. I’m excited about that, and think he will be very impressive in wednesday press conference.
I have read quite about Golden, I like most if not all, clearly a serious guy with an understanding of what he has walked into look forward to the presser Tuesday
I’m really excited about this hire. Especially like he embraces engaging with the community and entire fan base! Gator basketball needs that and the fans will respond. Go Gators!
the more I read about coach Golden and watch his interviews and hoops discussions, the more I'm getting excited about this hire. He's got a natural confidence and charisma about him that's very easy to see, and I like the fact that he seems to understand the way the game has changed and become more sophisticated offensively over the last 10-15 years. also, his being dialed in to the analytics aspect of modern coaching - where I've heard that our previous staff was not nearly as educated on that - is pretty encouraging. I've always been more of an old school type, "eye test" guy myself, so I wasn't an immediate convert to analytics (originally I tended to dismiss a lot of it as accountant types trying to understand basketball without actually watching the games ), but my view on that has changed over the last decade with seeing some of the ways this stuff can be used. You definitely still need to be able to watch what's happening on the court and understand and evaluate it from a knowledgeable perspective, but it's undeniable that a lot of the new statistical tools and models help complement visual analysis and provide a more informed and complete picture overall. So to me, just the fact that coach Golden is interested in analytics' impact on the game and finding the best way to apply those tools to help his teams is a sign that he's got a deeper understanding and awareness of how to lead a successful modern hoops program. big question is going to be recruiting, but I'm starting to think we might really have gotten a rising star here - if he can just recruit at the same level as our previous staff, I think we're going to be seeing a lot more success from Florida basketball moving forward.
I wish they would add more blue paint to the plane - give it a bad ass paint job. Hold a competition with the student body to submit designs or something like that.
I really hope Golden is successful here. Happy for him and his family getting out of San Francisco (the city)!
I'm encouraged by the hire and excited for the future. I know some liked Xavier's selection of Sean Miller ahead of Golden but I am not in that group, too much baggage around Miller for me, even with all the rule changes. Let go Coach Golden!
I tried listening to this podcast, but the guy's takes seem over the top most of the time. I stopped listening.
Sometimes it takes a shot across the bow to let the next ship that comes into port that we take things seriously here.
Yea yea yea..but is he going to demand the cameras be flipped? No, Im not joking anymore eirher. Lol. No for real, we have to make it seem more exciting on tv somehow. Also, will he bring back midnight madness
Hardly a "deer in the headlights look." I see excitement, and I hear it in his voice. This guy is legit.
