Am I wrong that Milchen may be pitching as well as he ever has? Certainly too early to be certain, but he may be an option for a weekend start. Great outcome for a guy who has stuck around and battled for years. Maturity is great to mix in with so many young pitchers.

I agree that he brings a veteran presence to the mound. With all the hard miles on him (injuries, rehab, father time) for him to be successful at this level IMHO he will need to bring his best command/control to the mound every time out to successfully compete. I wish the best for him in this challenge--but then I've always pulled for all of our TJ pitchers trying to come back. It's a tough road and challenge for whoever attempts it.

My guess its probably doubtful to get FSU to reschedule a game back here this year if it rains tonight. That said UF will hold off as long as possible to still try and get the game in tonight even if it looks bleak. Sure they could pick the Wednesday after the game up in Tally but I don't think Sully would want to further flex his pitching staff with a second midweek before Vandy comes in here that weekend.

This time last year Jud Fabian had exactly the same number of HRs (6) and RBIs (19) but he has 10 fewer strikeouts (14 vs 24). His batting average is currently 26 points higher as well and also has 7 more walks (18 vs. 11). He currently leads the team in OPS, Runs Scored, HRs, RBIs, Walks, and OB%.

HA he is tied for the lead with 1 triple but I'm not crowing over being tied. You must lead the team here to get the mention, no ties even with triples.

When Robertson was signed, I'm pretty sure the idea was for him to take over CF because Jud was going pro. But with Jud back, there isn't room for him in the lineup except maybe some DH when Riopelle is catching. From all I've read about him, though, Robertson is an excellent player with a ton of speed and should be a major contributor down the road - just maybe not so much this year.
Meet the Gators: Michael Robertson - Florida Gators

More info on the FSU starter Carson Montgomery
struck out nine batters in back-to-back starts against Florida on March 16 and UCF on March 24…finished one out shy of earning his first win against the Gators, throwing 4.2 innings and allowing two runs in the Seminoles 10-2 win…did not allow an earned run at Florida on April 13, throwing 4.1 innings…

I always like tracking which players can actually increase their batting numbers once conference play starts. Sure most go downward but some players seem to focus more on the SEC, hello Austin Langworthy.

Current batting averages going into SEC play 3/14/2022(minimum 21 ABs)
    Player---------------- AVG-- OPS-- SLG%- OB%
    Halter, Colby--------
    .391-- 1.130-- .656--- .474
    Langford, Wyatt---- .377-- 1.161-- .689--- .472
    Thompson, Sterlin-- .358-- 1.065-- .642--- .423
    Riopelle, BT---------- .318--- .923-- .500--- .423
    Fabian, Jud---------- .310-- 1.188-- .707-- .481
    Calilao, Kendrick----
    .286--- .814-- .469--- .345
    Fabian, Deric-------- .278--- .788-- .370--- .418
    Armstrong, Kris----- .227--- .663-- .386--- .277
    Rivera, Josh--------- .216--- .666-- .373--- .293
    Guscette, Mac------- .143--- .398-- .190--- .208

I'd be shocked if anyone batting above .300 or even KC at .286 can increase their average at the end of SEC play. But this does tell you guys like Armstrong, Rivera, and Guscette have to do better if this team is going to go far.

Nice commentary in the Game Notes but they keep leaving out one very important comment (so frustrating).....
    HERE COMES THE JUD
2021 Third Team All-American outfielder Jud Fabian is hitting .390/.544/.902 with six home runs and 17 RBI over Florida's last 12 games. Fabian recorded his sixth-career multi-homer game on March 2 vs. Florida A&M and now sits at 38 career homers, which ranks eighth all-time at Florida. During that period, he has drawn 14 walks and struck out only eight times. Fabian is tied for second nationally with 18 walks and ranks T-27th with six homers.

Multiple good points, but I feel at least one of the back up outfielders- Prevost, Talbot, Robinson, Evans or Robinson- needs to get hot. All are quality prospects and Sully is giving all of them except lame Robertson reasonable opportunities. I can't believe NONE of them will make meaningful contributions. I suppose DiGoti and Lestres should be on the list, too. Development of newcomers is a necessity for season-long success.
