We argued for years over Mike White, but we will have a new coach, and I sincerely hope that we reunite as a Gator basketball fan base. We have petty beefs that arose between this poster or that poster, but let’s try to bury all hatchets going forward. I will also ask (though I know it won’t happen) that some of you think about how you conduct yourselves and forum etiquette. While I disagreed with many of you, I tried my best to keep it cordial. No sarcastic funny emojis, no sarcastic creative emojis, and my dislike or disagree button is almost never used. There were some people I refused to engage directly in conversation, because I felt as though they were disrespectful to well-meaning posters in this forum. Going forward, I’m letting all that kind of animosity go. I hope to establish better dialogue with people I disagreed with here in the past. Go Gators
Thanks @murphree_hall . . . Swamp Gas was very divided and at times insulting (some posters) and worse than NBN . . . but turned around 180-degrees when Coach Napier was named. Maybe it can be similar on NBN. We're all Gators.
Yeah… I don’t take it personally, either, but I just tended to ignore those who used what I felt to be using tactics that intended to annoy/disrespect forum members.

I normally am never excited to watch an NIT game, but honestly I’m grateful to just be able to watch my team play again. It’s not what we wanted, but it’s something.
I just request that, whomever we hire (as long as it's not some crook), we all support the the selection and do what we can to get Gator basketball back to the top. No immediate fireronzook.com sites, please.
I'll just say the first step in having a respectful debate is to listen to the other side and NOT twist their arguments. This is not directed at anyone in particular but as an example...Dooley claiming gators expect titles instead of acknowledging the complaints like SEC record,, home record, lack of top 25 ranking, roster issues, record trends, etc etc Reducing an articulated argument down to "you guys expect titles every year" or you guys are "haters" is a huge breakdown in discussion. That's a two way street of course. Critics need to acknowledge successes along the way and keep their comments out of particular threads. These were just a couple of examples of the issues particularly involving ANYTHING Mike White discussions for the past several years now. Looking forward to a fresh start as well.
For me, and I’m guessing many others, it’s the exact same situation. We support the coach until the coach proves that he (or she) is unable to get it done. Where that line is drawn varies from person to person. The reason NBN was quite anti White is that he far surpassed that line for most. The new coach starts fresh and his destiny is in his hands
All sound admirable and a noble goal. I hope it works. But I think when sides are drawn, especially if a coach should be removed or not, it becomes too polarizing and it’s not just one side’s ‘fault’.
If anyone has a question about who is right or wrong check with me. I am a perfect barometer. My ex-wife told me I am always wrong.
General rule of thumb, if you have to make an argument by insulting people, you probably don’t have a valid argument. I have never understood why it’s so hard to stay cordial, it’s just a freakin message board. Vent, commiserate, share some good gator times, and get back to your life. As much time as I spend here, it’s not that important. And outside of a troll or 2, we all want the same thing/ success for UF.
You're kidding, yes? I'm pretty sure some of our fans have already called for the coach to be fired, despite the hire not yet taking place.
