Yeah, totally different circumstances. SOS is a Heisman winning Gator with deep anti Georgia sentiment. I was even surprised that he went to USCe.

I'm not sure anyone is "emotionally angry", but perhaps some are - I thought I expressed my feelings fairly clearly, though, which is that I've always tried to treat White fairly with my criticisms and actually like the guy's public image, but he's picked the one school (well, other than FSU) to go to where I can't root for him to have one single iota of success.

its not personal and I'm not angry at him - in fact I'm extremely happy how this worked out for UF hoops - but he's just made a business decision to join our oldest and most hated SEC rival, so as far as I'm concerned the Mike White era is dead and it's time to close the door on any more goodwill towards him until he's no longer a Poodle.

if you're a Gator fan from any further back than the 90s, I don't really understand how anyone could feel differently. Thanks for the memories Mike, now don't let the door hit ya on your way to Athens to put on the red and black.

 

I liked CMW..was surprised and shocked he left..but understand he wants a fresh start for himself and family..I have said that I will support our coaches till they are not our coach...so I supported him and yes CDM too till he got fire...the only reason I don't want him to win at uga is because I dislike uga (I guess kind of silly of me, not very mature)...not because of him personally cause I also thought he was a great young coach and like him..although I am surprised he didn't wait for a different landing place..either he had been told to look elsewhere or he was that unhappy..just wanted to get out of Gainesville..

 

Georgia is our football rival. It doesn’t extend in the same way to basketball, because they aren’t that good. We have stronger in conference rivalries with UK, Tenn, and LSU in basketball than Georgia. I’d even say we are developing some with TAMU and Bama that are stronger than any Georgia rivalry. UK and UF play the last game of the season every year by design. They are our true rival even if it’s been lopsided. We are the only other SEC Team with any somewhat recent championship pedigree. FSU is our biggest out of conference rival, and the only one that is on par with the UK rivalry.

 

murph, we're just gonna have to agree to disagree here - UK is a better hoops school for sure, but there's no SEC school I enjoy beating more than UGA, in any sport.

 

You might, but it’s not a real rivalry. The SEC team I want to beat is UK. Tennessee second, and LSU. If anything… I just don’t want to lose to UGA as opposed to wanting to beat them. In basketball, they are just some guys we play.

 

Being critical of one's family is totally wrong. I assume it happens to most people in public life. However, receiving three million plus per year should make it easier to deal with.

It appears you view it simply as a sport, with each collegiate sport isolated from the other.

I simply do not.

UGA is our mortal enemy. It doesn’t matter if it’s football, basketball, baseball, softball, gymnastics, etc. Or even academics for that matter.

Of course in some sports we are closer in prestige than in others, but that doesn’t change the fact the animosity runs deep.

My most painful UGA/UF was the 2016 softball super regional.

Of course UK is a more important game in basketball. It may be fair to say I hate the UK basketball program but I’m agnostic on the school, whereas I hate everything about Georgia.

Mortal enemy? Ok, some of you guys take this way too seriously, and one need not go to this extreme to be an engaged and die-hard fan.

I don't know what causes one to take the leap into hating everything about a rival school, but it certainly isn't an indicator of caring about your own team more than another fan.

Im an alumni of the University of Florida. That’s how I and many others see it.

You seem to view it in the more pro sports model, casual, non-alumni, etc. That’s perfectly fine.

I’m different. For me it’s all about the school. I’ll watch UF compete in any sport. Not because I like the sport but because it’s the University of Florida

I watch a ton of UF softball. I’ve never, ever, watched a softball game in my life that did not include UF.

Wrong. I posted very little about White, especially this year. Show me I am wrong.

A move like this tells me he never was committed to UF.

But keep on with your loyalty to a guy that in seven years at UF won zero championships, and won exactly one game against clown college.
