No - not all coaches slam other coaches or programs.

 

I like him because he's proven he can win consistently at two different schools, including a high major with a weak hoops tradition.

he took over a USC program that had won 20 games combined the previous two years and didn't really have much history of hoops success and has built them into a perennial contender in the PAC. Since his first two years (which were pretty rough, admittedly) USC's been in the tournament 4 of 5 seasons (COVID killed the tourney the other year) and has won 24+ games four times.

actually though after looking at him a little more this morning, I agree with you that he might not exactly be a home run hire like I originally was thinking. But I'd still be really happy if he ended up at UF.

What really good coach will be willing to come to Florida? Lose two games in a row and fans want the coaches head. Gator fans expectations are always way over the top and have caused a number of football and Basketball coaches to bail on us. Mike White lost several of his best players either for the season or for multiple games resulting in several losses but Gator fans refuse to see that.

 

You beat me to it! This would be an outside of the box hire. But definitely agree on the premise that he would need experienced assistants.

Good coaches see themselves as infinitely superior to White. We were a bubble program under White. Maybe 40th in the nation.

Drew is not afraid of top 25 level expectations.

It is a huge gamble. I’m in the camp the worst conventional hire we can do is a Mike White. Basically a bubble program.

Miller is a wild card that he in theory could be worse than White. But he also has the ability to build something elite.

Im not opposed to it. But there are easily 4-5 other calls you make first
