Just renewed my season football tickets and booster fees

 

I think it is a good hire for UGA. He's the best coach they have had... For a long time.

It shows what they want out of their program.

We have different expectations.

 

It was time for him to go, I'm glad he was smart enough to realize that it wasn't going according to plan here. He may do well at Georgia, but his performance just wasn't meeting the expectations of Florida.

They just fired a coach with a resume that far exceeds White

 

You know the fire Mike White crowd must have known we will hire the next college basketball hall of fame Billy Donovan type coach. Their vitriol was so poisonous that they had to be sure we could easily get a "big name".
I hope they were right.

 

And results that were the exact opposite.

So tired of hearing this sentiment. This will happen at any major power 5 job. Including UGA.

 

What's your big name that any major power 5 job would get? Including UGA?

 

They just fired a coach that won 6 games. Sure he has some higher accomplishments (I think a big ten title and a final four) than white but the guy only made the tournament half of his 10 years at Indiana and we know about UGA. I mean he pissed away the number one draft pick.

Mike White is a much better hire for UGA. He knows the SEC and has an established recruiting base. Has a higher career win percentage and his tournament Trevor is close. 11-9 fire cream and 7-4 for white.

I think things will look very much like they did here with him.

 

My take was directed at statement saying that UF fans and their "vitriol" pushed Mike White out and are the reason he left. This is lunacy. Truthfully it is always the same few posters here who get so upset if you say anything negative about MW.

 

Do you guys/gals think that UGA is just grooming Mike White to be their next AD? It seems like they were in on several other highly rated coaches and chose MW...

 

If the report that UGA asked for permission to talk at noon and MW was telling his team he was leaving by 5 is accurate, it tells you that this was an expected development (not necessarily to UGA but soft landing somewhere) that was embraced by all involved. The gratuitous statements by SS and MW support this as well.

Onward and upward for the hoops program....

 

Seriously, get over yourself. You made the ridiculous statement that any power 5 school including UGA would have fired Mike White (after they just hired him). Brilliant.
Your take had no relation to my original post just like your opinion has little to do with reality. I responded to your unfriendly post by asking a simple question which you apparently won't answer. So be it.

 

Our AD is young and brand new (and doing a great job). White was the most established name that we interviewed. Other options were mid-major head coaches.

 

I was thinking the same thing. Hard to imagine CMW making that decision so quickly. There HAD to be back-channel discussions with his agent, etc prior to yesterday.

 

I think he was saying that there is going to be noise and talk on social media at any major school, which is true. UF fans are not some unique brand of fans in the college sports world, its just obviously what we are most familiar with.

 

TOS fans thought he was going back to Ole Miss..

 

That is an opinion that is certainly debatable but not what my original post dealt with. I simply stated the opinion that the fire Mike White crowd must have thought we could hire someone better. I then asked him who that should be after he misinterpreted my post. He didn't answer which didn't surprise me.

 

Your post talked about vitriol from fans, which is what he was responding to. This happens at every school. That doesn't excuse it, but its reality.
