That’s pretty crazy. They were 23-12. That should have been good enough as strong as the SEC appeared to be. They finished with 7 straight wins too until their loss in the tournament final. Thought the committee usually rewarded closing strong…
Ridiculous that A&M didn't get in. Net was up to 42 with 5 Quad 1 victories. Did they even watch the SECt. A terrible job by the committee this year. Notre Dame was 2-8 vs Quad 1 and the only ranked team they beat was Kentucky. Their other Quad 1 was at Miami. They had a good record in the ACC which is not a good conference. Net Ranking was only 53. Miami got a 10 seed with a Net of 62. They had 4 Quad 1 wins but also lost to UCF and FSU twice. Their best non-conference win is vs 17-16 Clemson. Indiana had a losing record of 9-11 in the Big Ten regular season. They were 4-8 vs Quad 1 and have losses to 16-17 Syracuse, 14-17 Penn St and 14-16 Northwestern. Apparently they were given credit for getting to the Big Ten tournament semi-finals beating 17-14 Michigan and then Illinois. Didn't seem to make a difference for A&M. Somehow LSU and Bama are both 6 seeds despite 500 records in the SEC. Bama didn't even win a game in the SECt also saying that the SECt didn't matter.
Seriously . . . the A&M shaft is inexcusable. They should be in over Rutgers, Notre Dame, & Indiana to name a few. Good job breaking it down.
Judging by these results from the NCAA committee, the results of the SECT is meaningless! Even if you had managed to win the SEC Tourney like Tennessee had done, it's meaningless! The vols probably should have been a 2 or even a 1 seed. If a team wants to be in the NCAAT, they need to do most of their work in the regular season - nonconference/conference! If you are a bubble team like Florida or Texas A&M, it's probably too late to improve your resume in the SEC Tourney! The NCAA committee were just plain lazy! Too many Big -10teams (9 of them) are there and probably too many ACC teams, too. The ACC should have received only 2 or three bids; that is a very weak league.
APOLOGIES to Gatorhead 5 - Whom advised UF would (probably) have to win the SECT to get in. His call was correct.Flip shoes with TAMU, I don't think UF gets in. I was shocked TAMU did not get and agree with Jareduf, post. Just not enough Quad 1 wins during the season gets you in trouble with the committee apparently, anti SEC bias, something.
I didn't catch the show last night and I glanced at the bracket and thought they got a play in game. Then I saw just now that is was Texas A&M Corpus Christi! Ridiculous that A&M didn't earn their way in after their crazy end of the year run! Just wow.
Honestly, I think we get in with two or three wins because of name recognition and brand. It’s not fair, and TAMU got hosed, but I believe UF gets the nod with even one less win.
Their out of conference sos killed them. (over 200). Florida was in the top fifty. Gators would have gotten in with same wins.
