Why would he kid about something like that? White wanted out. Couldn’t handle the pressures of the Florida job. Georgia fan expectations are low so they will do cartwheels not competing for last place each season anymore.

I imagined a lot of ways this might play out, but I have to admit, this scenario never occurred to me.
I understand that it’s a business. White had shaky job security beyond next season, and the rebuilding project at UGA gives him more years before his seat gets warm again. Nonetheless . . . UGA?? He couldn’t find a comparable job that wasn’t a huge rival of a place that gave him his break and treated him well?
