So only losing by 16 to them, we could have finished second in that conference if we played there instead of the SEC?
Technically, they might win a game in the tourney: against another 16. They will get boat raced by the 1 they have to play after that if they get that far.
Fun note: there are 3 teams that have winning records in that 12 team league. The regular season champion of that league finished with an overall record of 17-16.
Maybe we stood a better chance if we played them at a neutral site instead of in an unfamiliar and difficult environment....
Unfortunately, there were probably intramural teams on campus at UF that could've been as well coached and motivated to play as poorly as the varsity program did.
True Gator fans will be rooting for texas southern to win so that it strengthens our loss and seasons that crow. This is our new version of march madness .
What is the purpose of this thread? To say Texas Southern is a good basketball program? To say Coach White is a good coach after all? Good consistent well coached programs do not lose these type games at home.
They may have one the worst conference in basketball. Does not change the fact we got whipped by a winless team at home. There is still no excuse for that
It’s nice that Texas southern made the tourney. Does make the loss “look” better. It has already been mentioned they play in a bad conference. Also of note…Texas southern won only 2 games out of conference - the beat down of our gators at Florida, along with a victory over some school called UT Rio Grande (who went 8-23). The level of competition for every conference win for Texas southern was incredibly low. The loss, even with Texas southern making the tourney, is still inexcusable. The talent gap was enormous in UFs favor.
