Lane has talent and can play when given the chance. He’s shown this.

Big JJ is talented and has shown that when given the proper opportunity.

    Kowacie- very talented.

Felder- Is talented. Just needs to play.
The 4 I mentioned above can all play and share one thing in common, they’ve not got real major opportunities to this point.

Appleby- may come back which would be a plus.

add Recruits and one big man portal transfer and I see a good team. Portal guy we need is 6’9 or 6’10 and a tough inside banger.

I would be stunned if Scott Drew actually was considering leaving. But if Scott Drew goes to a team with no real basketball history that just won 6 games then it really puts to bed the “who could we get that’s better” comments.

Inking Drew to the Orange and Blue.
Now that would be a major coup.

Kowacie is the only guy out of all those that would clearly start on just about any SEC team next year. He’s got the offensive talent and overall upside to be all-sec material with a year under his belt.

The rest of those guys are more or less role players or would be solid 6th or 7th men. Nothing wrong with that, but you are talking about guys that simply couldn’t crack the starting lineup in the top half of the SEC. We need to add a couple higher level starters.

With or without Appleby, the most glaring need is our guard play. It just wasn’t good this year. Too sloppy. Too much dribbling into trouble (a recurring problem in Whites offense). Too inefficient. Whites offense only even theoretically works if our backcourt feature absolute ballers. Unfortunately the truth is we had the lesser matchup in the backcourt in almost every game we played. Occasionally guys get hot to “win” a game, but in general it was a mismatch not in our favor.

Our best player Castleton I assume is gone. We could be rolling with a very young front court + Jitoboh. An experienced defensive/rebounded minded post of course would be a good transfer just to lock that depth down (a talented big man is always at a premium), but improving the guard play is a must or next year is more of the same no matter how that front court looks.

I don’t see it. IMO it’s a bridge too far for him to be a serious contributor.

Now more competition for a new coach with LSU, Missouri and UGA looking for a coach. Seems like the time to make sure we get our guy, but looks like it might come down to if the Miss job opens up. If that's true and White takes that job than hopefully it happens quickly before we lose our guy.

If he can give us 6-5 next year we’d be really good.

This is the issue I have. Say UGA or LSU lock up the Baylor coach early, and then the Ole Miss job opens up after the NCAA tournament and White leaves. We are now trying to hire a coach in a market where some of the “can’t miss” choices may already be off the market.

If White isn’t sure he wants to be here and would move on if given a chance, then the administration should go ahead and let him go and let both sides get a jump on the process.

Imagine if Mullen wasn’t fired after the Missouri game and we missed out on Napier because Mullen had one foot out the door and decided to leave for a college/NFL position in January. That also could have happened the previous year with Mullen/his agent shopping him around for various NFL openings, which would have left UF in fairly poor shape.

he isn’t leaving Baylor, and especially not for uga.
I’m not sure the source of the report, but I suspect it’s total bs.

The Scott Drew stuff is bs. He isn’t leaving, and certainly not for UGA.
Nor would he leave for Florida.
If CMW were to leave, only then would Florida begin its search…. And it’s not a race. Presumably, Florida would pursue a coach who is in the post-season. As such, we wouldn’t begin those conversations now…. even if we needed a coach.

Time will tell about Scott Drew. And my point remains that if White is willing to leave for the Ole Miss job, then how committed is he to UF basketball. Of coaches in the Tournament, I can only see us poaching a mid-major coach, and not a coach for a major university like Drew.
