I am watching the end of a late game from last night (San Diego State vs Colorado State). SDS is ahead by 2 with 10 seconds to go, and they are throwing the ball inbounds. The inbounds pass gets knocked out of bounds with about 9 seconds to go in the game. The refs are now spending several minutes at the monitor to figure out whether it’s 9.0 seconds left or 9.2 seconds left, etc. I hate this rule. There’s got to be a better way.
SDS won by 5 points. After spending 3 or 4 minutes looking at the monitor, the refs put 9.8 seconds on the clock. That’s impossible. There is no way that only .2 seconds elapsed from the time the ball was touched inbounds to the time it landed out of bounds. A complete waste of time.
No. The inbounds pass got knocked out of bounds by the defender. So, the refs spent 3 or 4 minutes dealing with tenths of secondhand and hit it wrong.
