this will be Thursday Mike’s 5th NIT. His experience should be a huge plus for us. He’s a veteran of this tournament. Looking forward to seeing if his many years in the NIT pays off for us. Let’s hope so. Go Gators!

Since we now always play on Thursdays in the SEC tournament, with the other middle of the pack SEC teams, I think it’s an honorary title. He’s done a great job here at UF and I’m so pleased he’s not Wednesday Mike.

It was still somewhat acceptable then. Hell, the dance went to 64 in 1985.

Preseason NIT. Beat Seton Hall IIRC.

Added in edit: Beat Seton Hall in 1987.

I wouldn't be surprised if Florida loses in the 1st round and the truth is does anyone really care. Can't imagine many of the players will. Maybe if we were starting 5 underclassmen, several true freshman and the team had begun to play better at the end of the season, that I'd want to see how our guys grow for next year... but since we're a group of transfer seniors in which none were recruited to Florida, its hard to really care as none of them will be on the team next year. Yesterday felt like the end of the season.

It will be another interesting offseason. First, we need to find out if CMW departs on his own accord as a matter of resignation (very unlikely) or for another gig. The third option is that the AD let him go. Beyond that, perhaps there is a way that CMW returns. There is a pretty good recruiting class that is part of this whole thing too. Personally, I'm more interested in what happens with the roster next season, whether it's with CMW or another.

id hope that Lane and Reeves would start based on their effort and results from yesterday. Jones and Appleby should see limited reps. Don’t care if they are seniors. Play the youth and those giving tons of effort.

If offered, I hope we deny the bid to the NIT
We only have a few guys returning and not sure it would if I was a senior (Castleton, Duruji or Appleby in particular), I would want to risk further injury.

I don't get this mentality. It's not football. Play on!

It is not football? Half the guys opting out of bowl games have no injuries, just trying to prevent getting one in a meaningless bowl game. Matt Corral played and was lucky his injury wasn't worse than it was.

The NIT is a meaningless tournament for the Gators. Do you know the extent of Castleton's shoulder injury, or Appleby's deep thigh bruise or whatever has been derailing Duruji for the past month?

These guys have put it on the line at less than full strength. Let them rest up for awhile and try to make some money, in the US or overseas.

Nope - don't know the extent of those injuries. Given the relative caution exercised by Gator athletics though, esp. for basketball, it seems that they are in good enough shape to play. I don't ascribe to the "meaningless tourney" take. It's another chance for the kids to play in the O&B and for us fans to watch them. Just my $.02, but I hope they play and make it to MSG. That would be meaningful for the kids, I think.

It's not exactly as prestigious as the NCAA's but many act likes it's a tournament for leper's, hey it's better than nothing or locking up the gym.

Billy's Gators went a couple of times and if memory serves me correctly got to the semifinals.

I would love to see Lane and Reeves and Gat compete some more and I always enjoy watching big Castleton play.

But then I'm the kind of fan that would enjoy watching practice as well.
