I always take Thursday and Friday off in anticipation of watching the tournament games (including the Gators) but I’m not looking forward to it now. Just not the same for me without Florida playing. Think I’m going to withdraw my PTO and save it for adding on after my paternity leave ends.
There are not many better feelings than winning that first round game on a Thursday, knowing you get to dance again on Saturday. Makes all the other games fun to watch. I'll still try to enjoy the tourney, but agree . . . it won't be the same w/o Gators. On that note - who's your second team? I like Illinois. If they can make a deep Big10 run, they might get a two or three seed.
Now you can relax without the emotional letdown of losing in the 1st round. It is still the best sporting event.
I agree, it truly is devastating to me when we aren’t in it. This is my favorite week of the year and I always take Thursday and Friday off as well. It definitely is not the same without Florida. I love Florida football with every fiber in my being, but not being in the tournament always stings worse than any other thing involving Florida sports. That being said, I’m trying to appreciate that special moments happen with or without Florida. I’m still gonna take the days off, appreciate the greatest sporting event in the world, and hope for the best for us being included in the future.
I'd love for Illinois to do well. They have a BEAST at the 5, but foul prone. If you ask me the Big Ten will be like they were last season in the NCAAs. I expect the Big 12 and SEC will shine.
Destroyed my family bracket and my chances to win as my homeys always pick the Gators to the F4. I have always predict modestly…now it will be game on.
I think IL, IA, MIst & Pur will be hell to pay in the tourney. Sure, one of them will get upset, but I expect to see at least two of those teams in the S16. I don't think Baylor or KS are better than Purdue. Who else in the Big12 are contenders for the S16? I guess Texas Tech is playing well again.
I think Baylor and Kansas are better than Purdue and Texas is about the same as Purdue and Illinois. According to Pomeroy ratings the highest seed for any Big 10 team should be a 4. Baylor deserves a 1 seed. Kansas a borderline 2-3 seed. Wisconsin should be an 8 seed (#30 in Pomeroy) but will get a much better seed. Depending on their draw they might be an early upset. Michigan State has a great coach, but they are only #42 (11 seed) in Pomeroy ratings. I suspect they get over-seeded. Texas Tech is #11 in Pomeroy, but I suspect that they get underseeded. Eight of ten teams in the Big 12 are in the top 40 of Pomeroy. The last two are #65 and #73. Some teams from the Big 12 that should be in The Dance will be in the NIT.
Interesting point about TX. Out of conference they have "good" losses to Seton Hall & Gonzaga. Other than a 1pt home court win against TN, they have no real wins out of conference. Purdue otoh beat NC, Nova, and FSU by 28. Kenpom aside, the winner of the Big 10 tourney will be a two seed at worst. You brought up WI - Lunardi has them as a two seed . I guess he has them winning the Big tourney. They treat that as the conference championship is that correct?
The couple times I have seen Purdue playing, I thought they looked like a very good team. Definitely capable of making a good run in the tournament imo
