I agree. But that call...can...not...happen. Its virtually unheard of. Guys make contact husling for loose balls all the time. They maul each other for jump balls and the hands seldom goes up. A bad pass where two guys are leaping for a pass that no one has possession of is no different. That was a terrible pass. It's like a hail mary in football. All kinds of contact for a free ball. You never see it called. The ref on the sideline had a clear, unobstructed view. Absolutely no reason to overturn that. Zero. Zip. Nada.
You have to exert insane energy to come back down 16. You are always at a disadvantage after being down that much even after coming back.
Yeah… it was an uncatchable pass. Dude was either going to have to land out of bounds or stay in bounds and the ball sails over his head. Phlan was going for the ball, not the player. He has a right to challenge for the ball.
. . . and in your insistence on negativity you overlook Florida should have had the ball and the lead at the end of OT but for a phantom ref call AFTER the play was dead.
does he also get props for not having his team ready and being down 16 before half the people were in their seats? But yeah, “played hard for 8 minutes”. Go team!
Oh he definitely deserves flack for that. But he also deserves credit for this team rallying back. EDIT: I want to add. I'm very sure MW knows the fan bases temperature on him as HC. It'd be very easy for him to just pack it up and quit -- but he hasn't. I've also been on the move on from MW train since Nembhard's second season, but I'm willing to give credit where it is due.
I hear ya and I'm not a fan of that stuff in the game threads, but somebody being negative still doesn't equal them rooting against Florida. just saying, bro - I think that's an important distinction to make so we don't end up angry at people for something they didn't actually do.
You are standing on a soapbox. We had forum members openly rooting for TAMU today. I’m not imagining things.
Sigh..who do we have coming back next year? Side note...I think its time to make the out of conference schedule easier. Back in the day when the SEC schedule was not tough sure, but now that the SEC might be the best in the land, its time to go into conference play with confidence. Im not saying to have a super soft schedule but I dont think it needs to be super hard anymore either. Thats just how I feel. Who do we have coming back next year?
Maybe Lane would have rendered that shot moot. He was one of our best players on the court today. He single handed kept us in the game the first half. Yet he doesn’t see the court during overtime? At some point in time you have to wonder why every game has some opposing player make “miracle” shots against our players that they haven’t all year. To just chalk it up to bad luck is lazy in my opinion. Just like almost every QB would look like Tom Brady against our defense the past two years. It is a function of the players, coaches, and scheme that this issue keeps cropping up almost every game.
I may be mistaken but our out of conference schedule was in the mid 200s. It doesn't get much easier.
