True, but in some cases a President's agenda can influence it. Take for example the current POTUS. The very 1st days he axes the Keystone pipeline turning from a net exporter to importing oil again. He effectively shuts down all new drilling in the US with new EO. By itself it doesn't affect prices too much but they did go up. Once Russia invaded Ukraine, prices went through the roof. If he hadn't shut down new leases early in his term, we might have weathered this very well. We would have been a massive net exporter where we could have supplied Europe for the oil and gas that they rely on Russia for. $1T in new oil and gas exports would have been massive.
I think this is a different deal but I do agree that past Presidents have had little power over gas prices. We truly could take care of our energy needs at home. This administration refuses to use the resources we have and that cannot be disputed. Their reply is we have to suffer in the short term to gain in the future with green energy. That is just stupid and disingenuous. They also never discuss dirty China. They never discuss dirty India. The current administration could help us at the pump but they are not interested in solving the problem. They don't care about the ordinary American.
And you think that this is the cause of high oil prices. Go ahead and explain it so we can all see how little you really know.
Sycophantic nonsense. None of this affects the price of oil now. Why is it that you continually ignore the reality exposed to you in other threads. When prices were low, oil was not harvested from wells. Now they prices are higher, the wells are harvested. Keystone has nothing to do with domestic supply. And, new leases require drilling.
largely due to LNG and refined products that get shipped abroad to avoid Jones act requirements and the abundance of nat gas in the US. Oil imports and exports - U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) The majority of total U.S. petroleum exports are petroleum liquids and refined petroleum products Because of logistical, regulatory, and quality considerations, exporting some petroleum is the most economical way to meet the market's needs. For example, refiners in the U.S. Gulf Coast region frequently find that it makes economic sense to export some of their gasoline to Mexico rather than shipping it to the U.S. East Coast because lower cost gasoline imports from Europe may be available to the East Coast. Petroleum liquids include hydrocarbon gas liquids (HGL). HGL exports, mainly propane, have increased substantially since 2008, and in 2020 represented about 25% of total gross petroleum exports.
I understand the subjects. I don’t listen to or read garbage. Ukraine has every right to choose it’s destiny, including whether it wants to join the E.U. or NATO. I am not interested in the cowardly appeasement of dictators.
how many pipelines did Trump approve to help move oil from the center of the country to the coasts? nat gas from the Marcellus in Pennsylvania and WV to the NE so they could cut their fuel oil reliance for home heating? We have no shortage of energy but we don't have viable, economical means to move it from where it is to where it is needed
You need to broaden the sources of your information. It starts by stopping reading white supremacist websites like you linked yesterday or any any of the many fringe right Wing websites that are the sources of your information.
Here's the monthly oil production in last year of Trump and the first year of Biden. Where do you see the plummet? U.S. Field Production of Crude Oil (Thousand Barrels per Day)
Woo Hoo! Oil prices dropped 12% today! Biden is turning things around! Oil drops 12% for worst day since November as wild ride triggered by Russia disruption continues
Wind isn't sustainable/reliable energy without batteries to bank that energy. Same goes for solar. They aren't reliable by their nature. So to post a link that conveniently ignores this obvious issue about the expense of "green energy" is disingenuous. It's why Elon Musk is big into clean energy....it's because he knows the wind and solar energy dream is unachievable without batteries to bank that energy. He wants a Tesla battery bank strapped to the side of every house and Democrats and their "green energy" dreams are going to make him even richer yet still complain about how rich Musk is but I digress. Making these batteries aren't exactly good for the environment...you're a smart guy, you already know this....anyone not playing team politics can see this but it sounds about right coming from you. I really didn't think I had to point the obvious out but you know the old saying....you can lead a horse to water
