Noise from Mike White’s camp

This is about right.
There is a ton of respect for Mike. If he felt it was time to leave … the uaa recognizes his reasons and would understand.
Individually- I feel the same. If mike decided to go to ole miss…. part of me would be disappointed, but another part of me understand … and maybe even think it’s the right move.

 

If White couldn’t ever get us ranked or in the NCAA tournament, I’d be calling for his firing, too. But, we are usually in the mix. We aren’t Duke or UK, but we are recognized as a perennial tournament team. This isn’t football, so you don’t need to go undefeated to have a shot to make a deep run. Just need to heat up at the right time.

 

I’m just passing along what he said. I believe him until he gives me a reason not to. I’m not the only fan that is hoping White leaves, the man isn’t a fool and doesn’t live in a bubble, although that is where his teams end up more times than not. He may want to go somewhere that he feels more accepted with a mediocre record each season. I doubt the administration or White either one will shed any tears if he isn’t our coach next season.

There are fans that thought that SS wouldn’t fire Mullen too but it happened. I never once said that I heard he was going to be fired, only that he wouldn’t be our coach next season because that is what Bullis stated. How it goes down, I don’t know and don’t care as long as the outcome is that he isn’t the coach of Florida next season.

 

It is just a matter of expectations. My sense is that most aren't happy with just being in the mix for a tournament bid every year. They want to see us pull in a conference title. They want to see us in the top 25. They want to see us getting top seeds in the tournament. If being in contention for an NCAA bid is all you ask, then White checks all the boxes. If you expect something more than that, then at this point it is getting harder and harder to believe White is that guy.

but it’s your disagreement with post #189 and your own post #190 that gives an inference that is inaccurate.

 

Fwiw - when I speak with Bullis via text, he still makes his arguments as to why we should move on from White. That seems like an odd approach if such decision is already made, but whatever….

 

I am getting really tired of listening to you people knocking our great basketball coach. I mean we went 13-12 in our last 25 games. That’s a winning record people. And, we went 2-8 against the 8 SEC teams seeded above us in this year’s SEC tournament. That’s 2 big wins people. Plus, if we somehow get into this year’s NCAA tournament, it will be as a play-in team that will allow us to play against another play-in team in the 1st round of the tournament. That could give us another tournament win. That takes a lot of planning and strategery. So stop complaining people. You don’t know a good thing when it’s staring you right in the face.

 

We are just passing time between Glover games.

 

I expect more than that, but from watching college BBall so many years, I feel as though all good programs go through this phase, then next thing you know they are back on top. As long as we don’t become irrelevant, I understand where we are in the circle of basketball life. Changing coaches isn’t going to magically change anything. Plus, I feel like Coach White has what it takes. I don’t like coaching carousels, I like situations like Coach K, Dean Smith, Calipari, Jim Boeheim, etc…

 

We have insiders too. On the pay side.
I also have a voice that chirps my way outside of that. That voice told me that McElwain would be fired after the UGA game days before it broke. Some will remember me posting it on SG. That same source ended up missing on Chip Kelly, and led to "The Thread". (Though I used a national source to actually OP that thread)

Those sources on the pay side of this board and the one bird that chirps my way on occasion have said noting about White leaving.

Maybe they are less connected on the hoops side, but GC insiders arent saying what Bullis is saying.

The issue is that when programs go into this sort of stagnation they typically switch gears and find a new coach. When you lose energy and excitement in the program, it is really hard to get it back again without major change.

Unfortunately, that’s what has happened to Gator basketball. I get it that you are satisfied with the 9th seed in the SEC tournament. Good for you. I’m not.

 

My interpretation of what Bullis said is that White may leave on his own with some persuasion from the administration. That’s what it sounded like to me. I don’t know how I can make that any more plain.

 

I have been on the pay side and never had anyone give as accurate info about basketball recruits and anything related to the team as well as Bullis did. Maybe there are folks on the pay side now that have some solid sources, if there are I’m not aware of them as I’m not on the pay side any longer. Just going on what has always been rock solid info from Bullis.

 

Why do you guys keep using this rhetoric. We are not satisfied, but we also aren’t jumping off the ship. It’s not a binary option.

 

Ask him if he posted on another site that White wouldn’t be coaching Florida next season. Then ask if he has an inside source that he’s getting his info from. That way you won’t have to take my word about what he stated, you can get it straight from him.
