I've never been a "prepper" but I can't tell you how many times I've been looking up MREs, how to seal a basement, bug out bags, etc. I've even sat here timing getting to my son's school, grabbing him, then getting to the basement.

Have never ever felt safe after my divorce but lately it's been worse. Even thinking of getting a gun. Can't even find where shelters would be because no one's needed them in decades.

Can someone please take Putin out already?

/mini rant over. Back to your normal programming

    For Pete's sake...from CNN live

"Pentagon dismisses Poland's proposal to transfer fighter jets to US for delivery to Ukraine

From CNN's Oren Liebermann, Kaitlan Collins and Kevin Liptak

The Pentagon dismissed Poland’s proposal to transfer their MiG-29 fighter jets to the United States for delivery to Ukraine, calling it not “tenable,” Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said Tuesday."

Apparently it hadn't been decided when Poland made it public & was supposed to be on the list of things Kamala Harris was supposed to discuss in her trip.
    ....

    From the article:
"Multiple sources tell CNN that the Biden administration was completely caught off guard by the Polish offer to provide the US with the fleet of used MiG-29 fighter jets.

The Polish offer had not been discussed with the US before making it public and Polish officials did not bring it up with US Secretary of State Blinken when he was recently in Poland, either"

Xi says China is willing to play role in mediating Ukraine crisis, in call with European leaders - CNN

Apparently China is trying to act as mediators along with the French, still blaming NATO but saying conflict needs to end, that they're ready to send humanitarian aid. Also said they want the West to stop the sanctions since the global economy was already hard hit from the pandemic.

Translation: China is stuck now with a partner with a worthless economy they have to prop up while navigating sanctions, and their other partner keeps calling at 3 am trying to sell them extended warranties.

To me, it looks like we just don’t want to be a public middle man. We would probably help get the planes to the Ukrainians in a more clandestine fashion.

My impression is that the Pentagon declined the Polish offer as proposed. I suspect that we still in the process negotiating a method of transferring the MIG 29s from Poland to Ukraine.

The bigger question is what prompted Poland to make such a claim? One of two things is happening here. Either Poland was informed such a deal would go through or Poland a NATO ally is trying to drag the US into a war we do not want. If it is the latter then we have to wonder what our NATO allies are thinking even though it has been stated time and again by President Biden that where NATO is concerned it's all for one and one for all.

it’s bigger than that. They are an export economy and if the whole world sinks into recession they have no one to sell to. They also want to have the feather of the peacemaker, which helps their image. And solving it saves their bestie, who they need in an axis against us, if Putin falls that could fall away too. Not to mention a more militarized and United west hurts them too.

Your sourcing isn’t really surprising. What is surprising is that you would let us know that you go to websites like that one.

F-16s aren’t exactly new. So no other county in the world is willing to sell Poland 40yo airplanes to replace their other 40 yo airplanes ? This whole thing doesn’t make sense to me

They have to take off from someplace. No issue selling them to Ukraine. But, the US doesn’t want the planes to take off from a NATO or other country and fly into Ukraine airspace.

Maybe they could be parked on the tarmac in Warsaw, fully armed with the keys left in them so Ukrainian pilots could steal them and go for a joy ride.

agree and understand. Just continual reliance on the US to put our necks out first all the time. There is a globe full of countries with airplanes to sell to Poland. I’m just war weary after the last 20+ years. Why didn’t the poles say they will bring them to any other base. Why is US the only country being asked to backfill ? Why not the French or Germans or Brits or Canadians? Literally anyone else ? Why ramstein. ?

I'm curious if anyone has any idea where Ukraine pilots are going to fly planes out of. As I understand it Ukraine does have a military force but all indications are the military force is minimal given conscripted civilians are portrayed as the brunt of resistance. From a military perspective Russia has not attacked any Ukraine military base that I am aware of and they certainly have the capability to do so. From the news we know Russia has taken a few airports but nothing to north west or western interior of Ukraine.

As for the Ukraine military force everything indicates they remain in defensive postures and are not mobilized to attack the Russians nor do they seem postured to do so. We constantly hear stories of the military repelling an attack and I'm certain there are loses on both sides of the front. Advances for Russian troops are not as fast as one would expect but I am coming to the conclusion this is by design not incompetence. Death by a thousand cuts but to what end?

Advancement has been slowed by resistance, bridges removed, and sheer incompetence on the logistics side. Running out of food, gas, and tires with old equipment funded through corrupt purchasing contracts and troops consisting of 1 and 2 year conscripts who have little to no training

MRE’s are good but pricey and have a limited shelf life. Go with dehydrated food with a 20-25yr shelf life. Just make sure you have water. Emergency Preparedness, Food Storage & Supplies. Vac packed rice, noodles, and beans are good. Don’t forget Little Debbie snack cakes. Get a pallet.

Because We are the leaders of the free world. The world looks to us. And, as heartbreaking as it is, the Administration is saying “Nyet” to avoid the possibility of WW3.
