UF had a lot of top kids visit last year before committing elsewhere. Hopefully better closing skills this year. The big difference appears to be how kids feel after their visit to UF. Certainly seems like more energy in getting kids to visit for unofficials in March. Looks promising and appear to have better recruiters at position and head Coach level in all roles.
When UF recruits players in their own backyard they win SEC championships and National championships. Coach Napier its pushing to bring that back for the 2023 class, While this isn't about the 2023 class Lakeland native (Lake Gibson) 2024 DB Brashon Williams has the Gators hard on his trail. UF coaches Jamar Chaney and Corey Raymond are the ones in contact with Williams. UF its believed to be close to the top in his list that also includes Alabama and Oklahoma.
On a down note Florida's Richard Young the #1 RB and #18 for the 2023 class doesn't seem very high on the Gators and his list only includes Alabama, Georgia, Ohio st and Oregon.
At least 2 other Florida RB recruits this cycle Id rather have over Young........not buying into the hype this young man is receiving based on what I have seen in him, nor has he performed all that well when up against above average competition......stats have been padded by playin below average competition.
I like Young a lot, but there are a lot of good backs out there. As long as we get a high end back I won’t sweat not getting him.
Does anybody know how this past weekend went with all those highly ranked recruits that visited Gainesville?
Lake Wales HS 3* S Jaremiah Anglin will be in Gainesville on April 2 for a unofficial visit. Anglin describes UF as his childhood dream school is developing a relationship with defensive coordinator Patrick Toney, Anglin said that Toney told him that what he likes about him is that he is a ball hawk and how he isn't scared to be physical and come down in the run game. Anglin also said that Toney that told him that he could see him playing nickel. corner or free safety. FSU its considered to his leader.
The Gators offered Hutchinson CC in Lansing Kansas WR Malik Benson last Tuesday. Tennessee, Texas Tech and Oregon talk with Benson regularly. Benson said that he would like to visit UF. The Gators also offered Orlando's DL Kamran James. Its believed that the Gators are the 3* DL top choice . 4* WR Tyler Williams will visit UF April 2. Williams also plays basketball at Lakeland HS has a good relationship with Gators receiver coach Keary Colbert. Williams is the 2023 class #32 WR and #244 player.
North Florida Christian WR Traylon Ray visited UF last Wednesday and according to Ray the visit went really well meeting WR coach Keary Colbert and RB coach Jabbar Juluke. The 6-2 180 tri-sports athlete possesses the height, length that the Gators are looking for. Rays hopes to make a final decision before the first signing day in December.
Arguably the best QB in the state of Florida in the 2023 class Marcus Stoke from Nease HS in Ponta Vedra has set up a UF visit on March 26. Stoke its ranked as #18 passer.
