It should also be noted a lawyer who knowingly commits a crime in coordination with a client, no longer has attorney-client privilege with that client.

Not that I expect him to rat on Trump, or for anything to come of it. But it does pretty much obliterate any shield of “privilege” he is claiming.

That’s the reason the J6 committee is showing their hand here. They’re asserting the crime-fraud exception applies even if there were a privilege (which they are saying there’s not a privilege).

Remember this nugget from Ted Cruz?

"We went into this election with the country deeply divided [and] deeply polarized. And we've seen in the last two months unprecedented allegations of voter fraud. And that's produced a deep, deep distrust of our democratic process across the country. I think we in Congress have an obligation to do something about that. We have an obligation to protect the integrity of the democratic system. And so, this past week I spent writing out [a] position and assembling a group ultimately of 11 senators that we put out yesterday that we will together object to certification in order to force the appointment of an emergency Electoral Commission to perform an emergency audit of the election results [and] to assess these claims of fraud. I think we can do that. We can do it promptly. We can do it in 10 days before the inauguration, but I think we have an obligation to the voters and we have an obligation to the Constitution to ensure that this election was lawful."

Looks like he was using the same playbook at the time.

Sen. Cruz: We Have an Obligation To the Constitution To Ensure That This Election Was Lawful | U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas

That list of proposed pardons is very telling and a witness list for testimony under oath.

“U.S. Capitol Police Sgt. Aquilino Gonell told the judge during the hearing that he is still suffering from the injuries he suffered after Wilson's attack, underwent surgeries to fuse a bone in his foot and to repair his shoulder and may need additional shoulder surgeries.

“I remember vividly what happened that day to me, to him,” Gonell said. “More than one year later I am still not able to put on my police uniform due to those injuries because of what he did to me and my fellow officers.”

Agreed, although I hope they’re rigorous in determining culpability. Don’t want to see a bunch of young associates who may have been just doing the work assigned to them getting thrown to the wolves

While it would obviously not be fair if the “ringleaders” don’t see consequences, if there were “legal pawns” willing to do this crap, these are probably the sorts we don’t need in the legal profession at all. Bottom tier ethics. These are all adults, I wont cry for them, but I would like to see the famous and/or prolific ones see consequences moreso than some random nobodies.

Look, every MAGA deplorable will tell you the only thing that happened was one cop died by suicide a few days later. It was harmless to everyone else except for the woman crawling through the window that was shot. She was the only real victim of violence that day.

“I did such a good job surrounding myself with people who supported me gaslighting myself such that I couldn’t form criminal intent” is *an* argument…
