Honestly that was really a great effort under the circumstances. Our guard play was really solid against a very aggressive defensive team. I think we had 10 fewer TOs than last time we played them, so the committee can have fun justifying themselves if they want to dock our seed based on that performance. Hopefully Merritt can come through concussion protocol okay and be ready for NCAAs.
Typical Gator injuries! Count on it . Every sport always crucial times . Softball , baseball due for a few ! Oh yeah gymnastics.. get ready SMH
Biggest issue Kelly has to address this offseason. We have to get better post players if we want to win more games next season. It has to be priority one, assuming Zippy comes back. Taliyah has potential, but is still inexperienced and raw compared to most teams post players.
Well, they're not up there with the top half of the SEC, and got mauled today. But they have both improved since last season.
We battled but it was really not in the cards with losing two of our best players in two days. Bad breaks.
I agree... not seen enough of either from a growth standpoint. Go get Angel Jackson in the portal and develop Taliyah and Jordyn further for next year.
What has continued to hinder this good to very good Gators WBB teams is either a lack of bigs or very little production from the bigs, this year team without a doubt could've had probably it's best season ever, would of won more games, been higher ranked, had better conference and NCAA tournament seeding if we had better post/big production. Are there any high profile/caliber bigs/post in the portal at this moment ? Can someone post a list ?
In addition they have accomplished so much and made program history in spite of what they have had to deal with inside the program, in season departures from former Head Coach (who should've been fired and never be able to coach again) and best offensive scorer/team leader in a sense All 1st team SEC selection Lavender Briggs (wish it would've worked). Most recently post regular season tournament losses of team leader/MVP in my opinion Kiki Smith (and potential next Gators WNBA player) and probably our most productive big all season Jordyn Merritt. Obviously happening at the most inconvenient time of the season. Does anyone know will Jordyn Merritt be back for the NCAA tournament ? She is greatly needed, if not it's going to be difficult to at least win 2 games in the tournament, but it's possible, it can happen. I imagine we would depend heavily on our Guards/Wings. Go Gators!!!
