This is interesting if true. Russian FSB gave Ukrainian forces info that helped them eliminate Chechnya special forces team sent to kill Zelensky

Assassination plot against Zelensky was foiled and unit sent to kill him was ‘destroyed,’ Ukraine says

A recent assassination plot against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was foiled over the weekend and the Chechen servicemen sent from Russia were “destroyed,” a Ukrainian security leader said Tuesday.

Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, said during a broadcast marathon airing on Ukrainian TV channels that officials were recently tipped off about how a unit of Kadyrovites, elite Chechen special forces, were on their way to kill Zelensky. After Ukrainian officials were told by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), the Chechen special forces were killed on Saturday on the outskirts of Kyiv, Danilov said.

“We are well aware of the special operation that was to take place directly by the Kadyrovites to eliminate our president. And I can say that we have received information from the FSB, who today do not want to take part in this bloody war,” Danilov said. “And thanks to this, the ‘Kadyrov’ elite group was destroyed, which came here to eliminate our president.”

Keep in mind, Russia is moving to the 2nd string. Reports have come out that Russia has already used vacuum bombs and also thermobaric bombs (which are one step away from tactical nukes). Using tactical nukes would end Ukraine and maybe that is what Putin wants to do. Then what would stop him from doing the same to Finland, who isn't in NATO and borders Russia?

first it was NATO, then it was glorious reunification, now it’s Nazis.
One day maybe they will hit on an excuse people actually pay attention to.

Putin might as well throw in BLM and Antifa next. Ridiculous that he’s suggesting Zelenskyy… who is Jewish… is the leader of a Nazi regime.

Only thing true there is they want to de-militarize it.

Putin, we will retreat and just safeguard everything to the east of the rivers……

And then the third string is next, deploying indiscriminate leveling bombs with no focus and no military target, just a brutal and inhumane objective to terrify, kill and force an exodus of the residents and military alike so that the territory, regardless of population, is under the Russian control.

It's working though, I've had far-right people repeat that Russian propaganda to me with complete sincerity.

I have a huge amount of difficulty believing the bold part. That is classic propaganda. Brilliant, for sure, but not very trustworthy. Russian intelligence is not and has not turned on Putin.

Yeah… this is one of the strangest phenomenons I’ve seen in politics. Conservatives in the USA siding with Russia is something I’d never think we’d see. Having grown up during the Cold War, it’s just bizarre to me.

Unless they have inner knowledge he was planning to torture the guy, etc, or they know he's planning nukes.

I'd caveat that with Trumpers, not conservatives/others.

Edit - but you're right. It's bizarre. Also this all sounds like the propaganda garbage media from USSR days.

Yeah & bombing a Holocaust shrine/burial site totally fits in with that.

Who has said the invasion of Ukraine is justified and supports it? I keep seeing this posted but have not seen or read about it. I don’t doubt there’s some fringe groups but making a blanket comment about conservatives supporting the Russian invasion is bothersome to me. I’ve seen people post why they think Russia invaded. And when they did that were accused of supporting the invasion.

I’m conservative and most my friends are also. Not one, not even remotely, support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

These are the type of blanket comments that discourage conservatives or whatever name you want to give them to not post here or even move on to another site.

Certainly blanket condemnation is wrong. There are some in this country that fully support Russia, and even more that -while maybe falling short of full support, justify the invasion and/or claim Russia is the victim.

It's wrong to claim these views represent half this country. This is what's broken in the US.

1.) Blanket condemnation and 2.) blanket protection. When people refuse to admit there are undesirable viewpoints within their tribe, they protect those viewpoints and give room for them to grow.

Sorry. Back to the war, please.
