I just cannot believe that happened!!!! I had to post to acknowledge my lack of faith and praise their fight!!!
Perspective. We beat Vandy in the last few seconds of the game. A Vandy team that has a losing record and won’t even make the NIT. It was an enjoyable game, but let’s keep in mind who we were playing.
Last night it was a Vandy team that could trip at half-court and, falling down, throw the ball towards their teammates and score another 3! I thought that long pass on the steal might go in. LOL!
— You’re not wrong. I was ecstatic that we won. I couldn’t believe it. But it was a team that is 6-11 in the conference. Also, Stackhouse went full Mike White late in the game. They milked the clock and ran the shot clock down. That helped us tremendously. Course he did it late, whereas, MW started it halfway through the 2nd half against Oral Roberts. With all that said, still nice to get a win.
Lol..that's not even close to the same Vandy team they were earlier in the year. They went through injuries and adversity as well and there is a reason they are quad1/quad2 opponent. Yea I'm sorry brother even though you are technically correct, it still doesn't tell the entire story
Perspective might be necessary if you are discussing this season's success as a whole or White's job status, but considering the sole goal right now (like it or not) is to get in the tournament, this was a massive comeback that should be celebrated and appreciated.
Wait… I thought Mike White is the only coach who loses like that. Are you suggesting that it’s possible for another coach to lose in that fashion?
Vandy came out blasting. The cheerleaders were checking into the game hitting threes from 30 feet. They put up a hell of a fight, and Scottie Pippen Jr. is a beast of a scorer. Vandy isn’t a great team, but they play the Gators tough. Anyone expecting us to waltz in there and come out with an easy dub doesn’t know this series.
If we shot like we did first 20 games we lose by 20. Hard team to watch, but easy to pull for as hard as they play. Lane has improved so much
Must be why we have beat them like 9 times in a row. When is the last time Vandy finished in the top 5 of the conference?
—- I agree they’re not the same team they were earlier in the year. They started the season winning 5 of their first 6. They’ve now lost 5 of their last 6
Sometimes you rally your team and take the win . . . especially a conference game on the road . . . and just be happy about it. That Vanderbilt team isn't one to sleep on. Here's part of what GatorGrowl posted in the OGT: OPPONENT’S LAST 5 GAMES Feb. 12 at Tennessee L 64-73 Feb. 16 at Auburn L 80-94 Feb. 19 Texas A&M W 72-67 Feb. 22 Alabama L 72-74 Feb. 26 at Mississippi State L 69-74 Not a single blow-out in there. Plus . . . like everyone saw, Vanderbilt was hitting buzzer beaters, shots they just threw at the goal at the end of the shot clock that went in, 3s from just past mid-court it seemed. It was a hard fought game. Look back at their shooting percentages and Florida still won! Add to that the kids could have quit late but they dug in and fought hard and seemed to want it more . . . and they GOT it. I agree there's a lot to talk about, and we have for weeks, but I'd rather be here with a shot still at the NCAA Tournament rather than penciling-in the NIT.
Aren’t we in this position most seasons with White? On the bubble just trying to get our foot in the door for a cup of coffee and a quick exit. I’m just ready for someone else to give it a try and maybe look forward to see what we are gonna be seeded instead of sweating to see if we make it in. Anyway, not long now, it’s almost over.
Yep. Essentially, our playoffs started a few games ago. Almost every game is an NCAA tournament elimination or spot-securing game.
— Unusual, but not impossible. Course most coaches don’t slow down their offense with over 10 minutes to play. Our coach being the exception
