"Kharkiv mayor says 9 civilians killed in Russian rocket attacks Monday From CNN's Tim Lister in Kyiv At least nine civilians have been killed by Russian rocket attacks Monday in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said. The mayor said this includes the deaths of three children. "Today we had a very difficult day. It showed us that it's not just a war, this is a massacre of Ukrainian people," he said on his Telegram account. "The missiles hit residential buildings, killing and injuring peaceful civilians. Kharkiv has not seen such damage for a very long time. And this is horrible," he said. Terekhov said four people came out of shelter to get some water and were killed. A family of two adults and three children were burned alive in their car, he said. Another 37 people were injured. The Kharkiv city administration gave the same numbers." Just so incredibly sad and maddening that anyone continues to defend him.

OK, but you're missing the point. It doesn't matter why Ukraine is planning to join NATO, it only matters that it is, and that's a red line for Russia. A good analogy would be what happened after the Arab Spring in Egypt. Mubarak was replaced by a Islamic government led by the Muslim Brotherhood in a democratic election. That crossed a red line for Israel and the government was overthrown by a "don't-call-it-a-coup" coup with Obama's acquiescence if not assistance. What's right or wrong simply doesn't matter in geopolitics and I really don't care to debate it. I have no position on morality in my analyses.
