Bear in mind her agent has a job to do, and is likely trying to exploit the success she has had. Doesn't mean her or SS are not on the right path....just that's its not so simple to just "hire" her
I said it before, and I stand by it. Stricklin does not want to hire her. It could be because of her connection to Newbauer, or it could be that he's just not all that impressed, or he met a guy somewhere he really liked and therefore wants to hire him. Finley has made that a difficult position for him so far, but another loss like last night, and then an early loss in either of the tourneys and don't be surprised when they just can't work things out. And then look at who he'll bring in. But we'll talk about that when it happens.
Yeah, this is correct. It is just that she is a young and inexperienced coach...with real potential. And we are NOT a blueblood program. I don't see the hang up, unless Stricklin already has a candidate in place and we are giving her all the chance to audition. We shall see.
I have wondered if the Cam connection is at play. I don't think even he isndumb enough to hire a man this go around given his history of hiring basically all men. We should know before much longer.
Finley doesn't have any UF connections, other than spending five years here. To her we are likely just a job. Which means we need to be ready to pay her for her services. If we don't lock her up before the season is over, we may not keep her. And that would be a shame.
I don't think we are going to pay her elite money, but I also don't think anyone else is either. Give her a decent pay and if she succeeds up it. The continuity of the program is worth some in and of itself. Now if she is demanding elite pay, let her go where she wants. If we are going to pay major bucks I'd rather get someone a little more proven... but hopefully it all works out and we keep her for a reasonable pay with incentive for her to succeed and for the school to up that pay as she does.
With 3 straight losses, if an agreement/deal hasn't been made, AD Strickling may be hesitant at this time.
It probably doesn't help her that there is a former Gator and WNBA Hall of Famer who has turned around two different programs now... +12 wins from year 1 to 2 and already +10 at the second program with games still to play. There is the continuity argument and holding the team together, but if you asked me who I would hire on straight up coaching right now I think Delisha would be who I would go with.
I think KRF and ADSS already have an agreement, may not be signed but ready to go when the season ends

I don't want SS to hire anybody. He hired Cam. Even if we lose in the first round, nobody thought we would be this good. She is young but I have to admit she made no adjustment in guarding Frank or stopping the dribble to the basket in the Missouri game. But if Kiki just had an average game, we would have won. She was trying to do it all. Reminds me of Appleby, sometimes she is just out of control.
Happy for Kelly. Don’t know if it will work out, but it is the best option today for a variety of reasons. Hope she validates the faith put in her.
Kind of unexpected timing but hopefully this gives the team a needed jolt of positive energy going into the SEC tourney. Even with perhaps a compressed week headed to Nashville, it seems super weird to not even have a press conference for her. Anyways, I think most will be pleased/relieved that SS finally got it done and at least cautiously optimistic about the future.
