I’ve been wondering since 2015 when the far right in this country would hit rock bottom. They keep finding new bottoms. An endless bottom. A black hole. A black hole within a black hole. I wouldnt give a shit, except their influence on one of the 2 major parties seems to be growing. The “growing” part is what I don’t get.

Which is why I can't understand the whole "if Trump were President he'd be tougher and there wouldn't be a war" thing. There wouldn't be a war (possibly) because Trump would say have at it. Those thinking Trump would help those people fighting for their existence are delusional.

A little more on the analogy. Neville Chamberlain acquiesced to Hitler's occupation of the Sudetenland in 1938 and two years later Germany launched an all out invasion of Poland. Trump said he had no problem with Putin's annexation of Crimea and a few years later Vladimir launched an all out invasion of Ukraine. Trump reportedly claimed to leaders at the G7 that Crimea is part of Russia because everyone there speaks Russian
Not to really pick on this post, but this seems to be the lens through which we are doomed to view any world event forever. WWII sure did a number on everyone, because its never been a helpful analogy for anything. Surely after 80 years or so, we can find another way to view things.
