Coaches know more about running a program than almost all non-coaches. If that’s all it took to succeed, then there wouldn’t be so many piss poor coaches out there.
There is nothing bad or mediocre about making the NCAA Tournament five of six years. No other school in the SEC has done any better. And except for Billy Donovan, not sure any basketball coach in the state of Florida has done any better.
Many teams in the SEC has a brighter future than Florida over the next 5 years. Despite our fascination with sneaking in on the bubble it’s pretty damn obvious teams like Auburn and Tennessee have passed us by
He definitely has that persona. The only time I met in person, he was very complimentary of the program/team. He seems oddly pro-Florida.
Maybe it’s an act, but he’s one of the few play by play guys I truly loathe, he just comes across as self important and more important than what he’s covering. Constantly sharing his personal views on things.don’t know how he truly feels about us though. But it’s an instant mute if I hear his voice.
You don’t know what is in the future. We split with Auburn and probably should have beaten Tennessee, up there , shorthanded. We will be ok
How can he say that with a straight face? We went from a power to middle of the road at best! Billy won 2 titles here and went to 4 Final 4s. It has been all down hill since 2014. This program isn’t improving. it’s time for a change, even if they sneak in which ain’t happening
I don’t think it’s an act. His Twitter handle is the same. Very pompous tone. I just found it interesting how so strongly posted for white, and it was the second time I’ve really heard him come out for Florida.
I would read his comments, if he would discussed the corruption at LSU in football and basketball. This has been happening for decades. the last three years they should have put down the football and basketball programs for a year (death penalty) as the hits just keep on coming. From the little effort of the media to get after the payments, cash, strong ass offers, coaches covering things up with the knowledge from the athletic department and administration, please offer up any of his wisdom on these matters, if he wants to be relevant. It could be he wants CMW to remain, to keep us out of the hunt for SEC and NCAA success, who knows. His fan base is the one who looks the other way and approves whatever it takes to get players in the program. Then denies, denies and denies. Mark Emmeret must be a tiger fan or has some friends in Louisiana who are tiger fans/alumni. Of course, the same ole same ole, everyone does it, as a comeback. Way of life in Huey Long Louisiana. Alabama has the same way of life as Louisiana. Whatever it takes.
If I got a vote of confidence from Tim Brando I would look down to make sure I wasn’t standing on plastic.
Did he make this tweet after we beat uga? If that’s true, he’s complimenting Mike after we beat the worst team in the SEC? A team that is 1-15 and 3 full games worse than the next closest team. A team that has lost home games to Wofford, Gardner Webb, etc. Weird time to make that tweet IMO.
We beat good teams every year. And then lose to some truly awful teams. It is why we are not competing for SEC titles. It is why we have to play the bubble game with the tournament pretty much every year for the last 5 and then get in with a middling seed. We are not a top 25 program. We are not competing for anything of significance. So we kind of can guess what is in the future since we keep seeing the same season on repeat. I like White, but I don't really see how it can be argued that what has been going on the last several years is where we'd expect the basketball program to be.
Thanks - I assumed he was an LSU alum. I guess the story is that he grew up in Shreveport and was employed in Baton Rouge calling LSU basketball games. Looks like he lives back in Shreveport now. Attended LA Monroe.
I'm guessing Brando probably knows White either through his dad or his time at La Tech given Brando lives in Shreveport. That's not to take anything away from his support, but think it may be in part why he would come out on social media like that. He also seems to love to go after Gator fans at any chance he can get.
