Presumably, 20 wins makes FL a good bet to make it. Then again, someone posted a list before the GA game showing us 16 spots under. How strong is the bubble this year? 20 imo makes it a nip-and-tuck prop. 21 would probably do it.
Thanks, aka pointed that out also. I haven’t been to a game since the remodel. Just wish there was more that could enhance the student experience and expose.
Think we need 21 to have a decent shot. And one of those (maybe even 2 of them) needs to be a quality win. We are 8 teams below the line now according to ESPN, and a Vandy win won’t move the needle, nor would a Miss State type win in the first round of the SECT. Unless we get incredibly fortunate and everyone starts losing around us. But teams always make a run in the conference tournaments and not the bubble teams down a line or 2. We really need to be one of those teams. They are really up against it.
Beat UK and we should be in with whatever 19 or 20 wins. I don't see how we could be kept out if that happens.
Well late in the year big wins don’t usually move you more than one or two seed lines. And a vandy loss would all but offset that anyway (we are at 18 so that’s your scenario). In that scenario we aren’t even in before the conference tournaments start. Bu let’s play best case and say a UK win got us to an 11 and somehow a Vandy loss didn’t hurt or we even win both. Losing first round of the sect at best keeps us flat and at worst pushes us down one line. Then all it takes is somewhere around 4 teams having good conference tournaments across the country, or one team leagues having upsets, and we are out again. We need three more I think, unless the committee is viewing us differently than almost every bracket person in the country. Would be glad to be wrong. The Bracket Project's Bracket Matrix - 2022
You are looking at it from an Excel spreadsheet perspective and not from a Selection Committee perspective.
no, I’m looking at it from a current consensus perspective. 8 out of 100 or so people who actually look at this think we are in. And the last 2 years I think that site has missed one team. So for that to be wrong, they would have to miss one team this year (twice the average), and have it be us that they were wrong on. Could happen, but not gonna matter if we don’t win at least one quad 1 or high quad 2 game.
I'd say in that scenario imo Florida would be 50/50 possibly depending on what happens with Miss St. May need 2 wins in the SECt under that scenario to guarantee Florida a bid, but it would at least give Florida a chance.
Best chance for Florida to feel secure is to win the next 2. I really can't see Florida not getting in with a winning SEC record in that scenario, especially with how strong the SEC is this year. Going to be a tall order for that to happen. To have any chance Vandy is pretty much a must win.
Your analysis is still too reliant on numbers, IMO. You switched from primary stats to secondary stats, and are now analyzing what the analysts say and turning that into a stat. I understand where you are coming from but in the end, it's a selection committee who makes the decisions, not a computer. Let's hope we win our next two and make the decision easy. Beating Vandy and UK would punch the ticket no question. You don't end the season beating #2 and #6 and don't get in the dance if you are University of Florida and have 19+ wins. The danger, and more-likely scenario is that we beat Vandy and lose to UK. If that happens and then we have an early exit in the SEC tournament, we are toast. We need to go deep in the SEC tournament and probably knock off a ranked team to get in if we don't beat UK.
The SEC is arguably the strongest it's ever been this year. Looking at those outside the bubble teams and their SOS, it's sad that we're down so far...but that's how it is every year with good teams in soft conferences getting the benefit of squeaking in. Speaking of Kentucky, is there any chance we could bring in Jitoboh for a few minutes? I know he has a "season-ending" eye problem, but wonder if he can get some Kareem goggles and power through....their big center dominated us last game
3 straight hall of fame coaches in a row (minus Devoe yr) built us into the clear 2nd best team in SEC over 30 years of hard work. For us to hire like we were an ole miss or mizzou after Donovan was a joke. It just took a crap on the hard work Sloan, Kruger, and mainly Donovan did for this program. I have given it 7 years enough is enough.
I think that would get us in, depending on what happens elsewhere. Only because the SEC is pretty highly regarded this season.
