    @QGator2414 About that *raw data*

    You realize that what the CDC has posted and continues updating each month is *the data* that they have from 68% of reporting agencies?

    But no agency or anyone who knows a thing or two about data collection would simply post raw data, meaning data where duplicate cases, missing data, and reporting errors etc haven't been fixed. With millions of cases & multiple columns coming from many different reporting agencies, this often means going back to the individual reporting agencies to correct many individual errors.

    Awful job Biden did mutating the virus like he did. Oh, and in not imposing mask and social distancing mandates in states like Florida. And in not appointing justices to the Supreme Court who would enforce a vaccine mandate.

    Trumpers. Literally dying to own the libs. Nearly 3:1 death rates in deep red, Trump counties versus deep blue, Biden counties. Here is the New York Times update on what they dub, "Red Covid."

    Here's what California looks like. Overall, the trend since the beginning looks even. But since April 15, and widespread vaccination, things shifted.

    Everything changed, however, after April 15, 2021, when all adults in California became eligible to receive the vaccine.

    Since then, the state has seen two waves of infections and hospitalizations — the delta-driven wave over the summer of 2021 and the recent omicron-driven wave — and Trump-won counties are seeing considerably higher death-per-capita rates than Biden-won counties. In the time period between April 15, 2021, and Feb. 21, 2022, the nine California counties with the highest death rates were all won by Trump.
    Can you really blame Biden for unvaccinated deaths since mid April? If deep red counties had the same vaccination rate as deep blue, thousands of lives would've been saved.

    Random thought. As this all slows down, I *hope* that folks will have a little sympathy and know what it's like for us who have to mask up because of underlying issues.

    I reply to a political post about the supposed bad job Biden is doing by pointing out the differing circumstances concerning the variants of the virus and you call my post political? My response is what it usually is to you...

    I wear a mask for the vulnerable more than for myself

    Only issue is Biden ran on stopping covid. Didn’t happen. Shouldn’t have said it then. I think both trump and Biden did a terrible job along with the cdc as well. Only people playing politics with covid were the dems. And unfortunately made kids mask the longest even though they were the least risk on the planet. Just political theatre. Just like all of a sudden at the sotu coming up that mask guidelines “suddenly” get loosened a few days before Biden’s speech. You honestly think that was a coincidence?

    should not the vulnerable protect themselves first?

    That's not how masks are designed to work. I wear one to protect you if I'm infected. You wear one to protect me if you're infected. If I wear one, but you don't, and you're infected, my mask offers little protection for me.

    As for dropping some suggested mask recommendations in certain areas, maybe it's because COVID cases have dropped for 5 straight weeks. And total hospitalizations dropped by 20k week over week.

    Yes the proper well fitted masks will protect you from getting sick. Nothing is 100%.

    [Edit] Nearly 9 Over 8 in every 10 deaths since April have been of unvaxxed, almost certain to be a large majority on the right. Those numbers don't lie either, but they tell a tragic story of preventable death that has nothing to do with Biden and everything to do with lethal mis & disinfo.

    so that would mean the majority of the 55 million plus new cases are from the left if the right is so anti-vax, right?

    Yup. About 51% of the new cases since Dec 1 were of vaccinated. However, the infection rate for unvaccinated was still about 2.5x higher than for vaccinated over the same time period, which means that omicron spread 2.5x faster among the unvaccinated than vaccinated.
