You are correct the Ukraine is not a NATO member. President Biden has stated emphatically that the NATO members stand in solidarity to protect one another. He has made that commitment on behalf of the United States what I haven't heard is other member nations being vocal about such support and solidarity.

As to your second question the Ukraine has been asking for help mainly with armaments over the years. They are now asking for help on a global scale which includes the US. They know they are seriously out gunned and out manned against Russia. They also know sanctions are not going to stop the onslaught nor will diplomatic or global meetings of nations heads of state. Despite their pleas no one will intervene on their behalf.

And the US may not want to anger the second most populist nation that shares a border with China and has the potential to be a counter weight to Beijing in the near future. This is where geopolitics gets hard.

Apparently much of it is food related. India basically relies on Russian potash/fertilizer and there’s no replacing that.

I wouldn’t be so quick to judge India on having trade relations, though their military purchases are something else. Harder to justify “waiving” those sanctions now…

That's more than an hour long.

    How's about the ADHD synopsis?

It’s hard to see them being competitive with state sponsored bad actors, they may even be putting themselves in danger - actually they certainly are, anyone that isn’t literally a master hacker would be id’d by Russia so they better be operating from outside Russia’s reach.

That being said, not sure there is any downside to this sort of hacktivist vandalism, other than the personal risk they would take on.

Russia has historically supported India in its adversarial relationship with Pakistan. The US has always backed Pakistan.

Well, this is disturbing as hell. My little hypothesis has been confirmed in part, and turned on its head in part. And i should point out, it was a hypothesis born of ignorance (of whats in the link below), not prescience or such, as the date = Feb 7, 22. Confirmation is that Xi does indeed, have Putin's back here.

Turned on its head, bc China isnt even bothering to stay behind the scenes.

Russia and China Unveil a Pact Against America and the West

...and now we hear India is throwing on with this Axis of evil....

I wasn't alive for either of the first 2 world wars (of coursr--pretty much none of us were)--but if i had to speculate what the beginning must have felt like....id go with something an awful lot like what we're seeing unfold right now.

Had yall heard this reported elsewhere?

Seems like that should have been red light sirens blaring headlines the moment it was declared.

Sanctions will do nothing. Not even the so-called nuclear option. Russia has enough resources on the dark web to circumvent anything that Biden attempts. Given that Russia will get help from China, losing SWIFT is just an annoyance.

NATO has been pushing anti-corruption campaigns before Ukraine would be admitted to NATO.

Let’s see if China really supports an expansionist Russia or if it is lip service. There is a very long history of an adversarial relationship there. Russia has repeatedly attacked portions of China.

    Hadn’t thought of that.

Materially, I always sort of thought of us as neutral on that conflict. But I guess the technical reality is if the Paki’s buy U.S. arms and India buys Russian arms, that could guide their alliances. But I don’t think most people consider Pakistan a top ally, more or less just the lesser of evils in those Muslim countries - and the only reason we support their military is to prevent a Taliban type government.

I know. I wasn't being serious about Moscow. But I don't see sanctions as effective in stopping a nutjob. Gotta try to take him out.

China has been quietly and steadily working the terrain to displace the US and the dollar as the financial capital and currency for years..

Russia wants to be relevant again, but unlike its USSR days, isnt hell bent on subgugating the world. They initiated the frontal, bc China has its back. We're seeking to starve Russia out...

Expect China to start tweaking our economic levers...

Remember that 3.7 Triilion dollars we pissed away pretending to avoid a pandemic? Really, all said and done, we must have pissed away 10 Trillion chasing the matador's cape...

That was our fighting fund. We're essentially tapped out, as soon as interest rates tick up...then up again...

It was no accident. No magic bat shitting on a wet market....and the chorus of bought and paid for US politicians singing in defeaning harmony to spend ourselves into impotence, was Chinese Kung Fu, turning our own strength against us.

I believe China approved wheat exports to Russia in the last day or two.
