Do you think that Glover's play at UF was affected by White usually playing him out of position on the wing, not having him in the regular rotation and pulling him out of the game every time he made a mistake? Glover had no confidence last season. He is brimming with confidence this season. You are entitled to think that it is ridiculous that adding a true point guard to your team who will be 1st-team all Southern Conference this season would fundamentally change the team even though the Gators don't have a point guard (period) on the team. However, it is obvious to me that you are wrong. In my opinion, put Glover at the point and Appleby at the 2 and you have improved the Gators enormously. Just one of the reasons why I would like to see Mike White move out of town.

They also missed on players like Steph Curry, Scottie Pippen and Karl Malone. It happens all the time. The question is would these schools like to have Glover after seeing what he is doing this year.

Everyone saw the game, so there is no need to post a highlight video.

That’s posted by me for all of the wonderful posters on here who think that Glover is not a really good player. It includes his game winner. No need to watch it if it doesn’t interest you.

I would be curious to know if anyone enjoys the highlights. With almost no exceptions(maybe, David Huertas), I have followed former Gators wherever they have gone and root for them to do well. That’s in every sport and both in college and pro. However, Glover is a special case for me. I have been talking him up since he was in high school while he has been almost uniformly dissed by posters on Gator Country. At the same time, there has been this battle going on between people for and against Mike White. The 2 subjects blend together in my opinion. How the hell did Mike White miss so badly on this kid? It says so much about him as a coach. So, last night, Samford played a make-up game against The Citadel. In a wildly entertaining game, Samford prevailed 76-74 to move to 19-9 on the season and 9-7 in the conference. Once again, Samford was carried by the kid who is not good enough to even beat out Myreon Jones for the back-up point guard spot at UF. That kid had 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists last night. He also kept getting the ball to his teammates for wide open shots, but they couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Finally, he locked down the second leading scorer on The Citadel. I haven’t looked for a highlight video, but my guess is that it will be a spectacular one because most of Glover’s baskets were of the spectacular variety. Samford plays again tomorrow. It’s amazing to me that they keep winning.

How is it connected between White and Glover? Glover was here for 2 years white for 7.
Most think Glover is good just to some no better than Appleby.
Say what you want but no way any one knows what Appleby would be ave at Samford I think plenty.
If we could shoot Appleby would be ave 8-10 asst at Fla this year. Why care what people think you think Glover would have Fla undefeated that's your right.
If he stayed he might be starting or at least in rotation yet he did not believe he would be.
If he stayed we don't have Jones no reason to.

    I enjoy the highlights.
Contrary to what you may think, I really like Glover and believe he is very talented.
Like you, I follow most gators after the leave, with only a few notable exceptions.

Let’s use Brandon McKissic for a comparison with Glover. Last season at mid-major UM-Kansas City, McKissic averaged 17 ppg and shot 50% from the field and 43% from three (and in games against higher competition, he scored 24 points against Kansas State and had 18 points against St. Louis). He transfers to UF and playing against much tougher competition night in and night out, McKissic is now averaging 6 ppg and is shooting 37% and 25% from three as a Gator.

Who you play against matters a whole lot whether or not Tampajack has a clue and realizes it. Ques Glover is having a nice season playing against mid-major competition but would not put up anywhere near the same numbers had he stayed in the SEC.

I wish he had opted to stay (if that was an option). It's also great to see him prospering at Samford.

There are many reasons a player may or may not blossom at a school and certainly the head coach and staff have a huge influence on that.

Not knowing anything about what really happened in the everyday dynamic with Glover does not qualify me to present any educated opinion.

I certainly believe UF would benefit in having him on the team now, all things being equal, and considering the level of guard play by the Gators this season.

Having said that, I don't automatically
consider Glovers success at Samford an automatic indictment of failure on coach Whites part either.

There are many many examples of players moving on to successes or failures in college hoops.

Granted, Glovers success is not a particularly good look for White but neither should it necessarily be an automatic indictment.

From the 2 cent bleacher section.

If you put Appleby on a SOCON team and gave him 30% USG% he'd be putting up similar stats. Glover certainly wasn't succeeding as a microwave backup because his skillset needs volume to succeed. No one is getting 30% USG% at UF.

Fundamentally, I agree with you that White is generally a problem and that we've made a lot of really good players look worse than they are (Nembhard, again, being the best example).

But I disagree with you that Glover is fundamentally better than Appleby. Appleby is a marginally better outside shooter and significantly better defender. He fits better into a medium-usage role.

Again, it's good that he's succeeding in a ridiculously high-usage role at Samford. But he was never going to get that chance here and I don't think he would be better in Appleby's role than Appleby is.

Also I don't think it's really fair to say that White "missed" on Glover when UF was his one high-major offer.

Glover obviously has big-time quickness and skill but I think coaches just had questions about his ability to be efficient in a role where he wasn't the #1, #2, and #3 option in his offense and I think those concerns are still valid.

I would like to see him get another high-major shot as a grad transfer. Just hope it's not in the SEC.

Exactly. On the one hand he says the numerous Head coaches who didn’t offer Glover whiffed on him and listed other NBA legends as proof and how it happens all the time. No biggie.

On the other hand, what an indictment for CMW (glover’s only big offer, mind you) to whiff on a guy like Glover! Says sooooo much about CMW as a coach.

    .

    It’s called confirmation bias.

I’ve made a similar point in the past…

Seeing that Florida was Glover’s only P6 offer, would it not be more reasonable and accurate to say Coach White gave him a greater opportunity than any other P6 coach in the country?

So let me see if I understand your somewhat incomprehensible post. UF is the only power conference team to offer Glover. Glover, it turns out is a terrific point guard. White fails to recognize this. So, Glover leaves and is becoming a big star at a mid-major in his first year of starting. UF has a huge need at the point this year that Glover could have filled. So, what is your point?

White did recognized it that's why he signed him. Did not want to take chance he might not start so he left. Again all coaches from power schools left him alone.
If he stayed he might be starting if he outplayed Applebe in practice at worst he's 2 nd team PG.
Wish we could have kept him but he went smaller to make sure he started but to say the only coach to offer him missed is laughable.

Why do you feel compelled to constantly throw some crap into your posts? There is no way Glover should have stayed after what he put up with for 2 years. He wanted no part of the chaos anymore. Glover had offers from plenty of good mid-majors, including Loyola of Chicago, which is better than UF. Considering that he had recently been named the MVP over James Wiseman of the Tennessee state championships, other power conference offers might have come his way. But, that is not my point. If you watch Glover play, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see that he is a terrific talent, including being one of the best scorers in the country off of the dribble. How did White miss that? That is my point regardless of how laughable you might find it. Out of curiosity, do you have an odd sense of humor?

Tonight will be an interesting Samford game. They play Furman at home. Furman won by 32 points the first time around with Glover not playing because of illness or injury. Can Glover plus the home court make that much of a difference tonight? I am not counting on it, but I will be watching a replay of the game on ESPN+.
